finecat | 91 comments RE: TO THE PEOPLE WITH NO LISTS TO WORK FROM FOR GIFTING -> Maybe you all could send an anonymous message through Elfster (if possible) asking your giftee for a list of books wanted; or a GR link(s) to work from; or some ideas as to what genres they like? I wouldn't work from the TBR lists because some people put books in there that they already have.

Woot!

Stella ╰☆╮╰☆╮ (stellamatta) Does anyone have already buy something on sale on ARE?

Rissa (an M/M kinda Girl!!) (rissa79) Stella wrote: "Does anyone have already buy something on sale on ARE?"

Not yet. What's up?

message 65: by Kat (new)

Kat (cutestsubever) Stella wrote: "Does anyone have already buy something on sale on ARE?"

Yup, I did. Why? It's 50% off today although you get the 50% as Bonus bucks.

Debra ~~ seriously slacking on her reviews ~~ (debrae) | 264 comments I don't know my pick and can't find them on GR either. Would love to take advantage of the ARe sale so I could send them more stuff. :( Hopefully they'll get my request for info.

K (k-polipetl) | 86 comments I had a message from my Santa... apparently my wish list wasn't showing, but it's been there for weeks... I've had to create a 2nd wishlist and title it for the event so that hopefully it now shows

I think there might be a glitch with wish lists not specifically linked to this year's event.....

Stella ╰☆╮╰☆╮ (stellamatta) During the checkout the books have the full prize and not the 50%off. Is it normal? it's the first time I buy with the sale

Rissa (an M/M kinda Girl!!) (rissa79) Stella wrote: "During the checkout the books have the full prize and not the 50%off. Is it normal? it's the first time I buy with the sale"

What happens is you pay FULL price for the books now and you will get the 50% off in a form of Bonus Bucks to use at another time.

Oh ok. Thanks Rissa!

message 71: by K (new)

K (k-polipetl) | 86 comments After you've paid, if you go to "my library" at the top there will be something that says "unassigned eBook bucks" - you need to go in there and assign them to yourself (unless you want to gift them that is)

I made it, thanks! I hope I will hear from my pick soon so I can gift her more books

Rissa (an M/M kinda Girl!!) (rissa79) I want to buy everything for my person! How to decide what to actually choose is proving harder than I thought.

You can actually set who can see your wishlist. I have a different list for each group, but someone from this group can't see my other wishlists. So ifyou know you have a list but your secret Santa says you don't check the settings.

Michelle McKinney (owlshelle) | 51 comments So what made everyone love m/m and how did you get into it? What was your first one you and you knew you loved it?

message 92: by Karen (new)

Karen (bookfanatic55) | 901 comments Michelle wrote: "So what made everyone love m/m and how did you get into it? What was your first one you and you knew you loved it?"

Hi Michelle, I mostly started reading m/m because I like the dynamics and I was really, really tired of helpless females running down deadend alleys wearing high hells and then wondering why they were in the situation they were in or more to the point I wanted to read something different. I've been reading it for so long I don't actually remember the first book I read I think it was Fireflies by Ally Blue which I have to admit is not her best work but it did the job and got me curious and from there I just kept poking around and reading more and more. The book that told me I really, really loved this genre was 'Life After Joe' by Harper Fox. I love that book so freaking much.

Rissa (an M/M kinda Girl!!) (rissa79) I came across some MM(F) in a series I waFaith & Fidelitys reading. I couldn't find an only MM book fast enough. I wanted to start out 'easy' so I was recommended which I LOVED and recommend to just about everyone! My next book I wanted a little bit more and went with Nowhere Ranch. OMG that was an whopper of a newbie book but I loved it! I've been reading MM for about 3 years. I had a few M/f reads at the beginning but now I'm strictly MM. I want no vaginas in or around my males these days!

~ Lei ~ Reading Is An Adventure ~ (leilanilives2read) | 345 comments Like Karen, I got tired of the too-stupid-to-live heroines and my gateway was through mmf like Rissa and then I think I read Special Delivery and Nowhere Ranch by Heidi Cullinan and I was hooked.

I do still read a few mf books but I skim the sex scenes, lol.

Ami (amie_07) | 362 comments Michelle wrote: "So what made everyone love m/m and how did you get into it? What was your first one you and you knew you loved it?"

Michelle, I actually started with movies and TV shows! I watched "Brokeback Mountain" and "QaF" ... and then found out that they actually had MM romance in fiction! Great, so they can end happily. At that time MM was alternative because I was very TIRED with weak and TSTL heroines.

My first MM was The Tin Star and to be honest, I felt there were too much sex for me. I almost gave up because the next ones were also too smutty. Then I discovered Josh Lanyon and well, the rest was history :) ... 6.5 years and counting ^^

message 96: by finecat (new)

finecat | 91 comments I used to love watching "QaF" - really good acting in that series too! I still need to see "Brokeback Mountain". Too many good books & movies, not enough time :-D

message 97: by K (new)

K (k-polipetl) | 86 comments Random request!!

Can people please keep their wish lists updated if they are just on Elfster and not linked to either Amazon or here.....

With the joys of bonus bucks and 10th book free options, not to mention sales, you can stretch out your allowance quite far.... right to the point your giftee has no books left!

message 98: by [deleted user] (new)

I started reading MM about 3 years ago and haven't looked back. My first was Conquest (still a favorite) and I have been addicted ever since.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, you put it in the notes area. I think I responded to this question in the technical questions thread? Maybe?!
