Do the books have names, or merely numbers?

And if so I should have said I am reading my 99th this year.

message 3784: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 425 comments I read Human Acts by Han Kang, translated from the Korean by Deborah Smith.
The novel deals with the historical 1980 Gwangju uprising in South Korea. It is an important book, but it makes for difficult reading because of the graphic description of torture and the massacre of hundreds of unarmed civilians.

message 3788: by Ryan (new)

Ryan Hendrick | 6 comments I'm currently reading Days of Atonement by Michael Gregorio. Its a thriller in the Napoleonic Era, set in occupied Prussia. I won't say any more about this tense and smartly written murder mystery, because you should go check it out!

message 3789: by Sly (new)

Sly Segreto (goodreadscomdrsly) | 6 comments Just started Strangers on a Train by Patricia Highsmith. It was made into a movie by Alfred Hitchcock, which I watched a few years ago. Thus, looking forward to the book. Highsmith is the author of The Talented Mr. Ripley. Read the book which was fantastic and saw the movie adaptation starring Matt Damon. Book and movie are my favorites. She gets into the Psychopathic mind about as good as any author.

Bernard Nkemjika | 44 comments I just finished reading an analysis of the story, Trial at Salem, by Stephen vincent Benet. It speaks of insanity and moral injustice in the society due to witchcraft and out of nature tolerance. I didn't like the structure but I appreciate it for its moral lessons.

message 3792: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 16, 2021 12:56AM) (new)

I am out of shelf space for my books, with 100 unread I need to clear, so I am reading books based on size rather than want currently.

Just finished Rock Wars by Robert Muchamore since it is a huge ex library edition and now I am about to start Skullduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy, which is equally huge and ex library.

After that I have a few Kindle books I want to read by D.J.Swales, an indie author of Poetry and Horror and a far more adult feel than the two YA books.

Leslie Garland | 417 comments To be honest I don't care less about 'how many books' - we are not 'train spotting' I hope. I have just finished The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco - I am working on my review - and have just started - well actually I am about half way through it now - Eyeless in Gaza by Aldous Huxley and am finding it absolutely terrific. I hope we are all leaving reviews on both amazon and goodreads.
