I'm re-reading "Los Angeles Noir" an anthology of noir stories by contemporary authors as one of the books I'm writing has noir overtones.
I read Swimming Home by Deborah Levy.Set in a tourist villa in Nice, France, the novel is populated with characters suffering from depression. It's an unusual book that packs a powerful punch.

Reading currently Ava Gardner : The Secret Conversations. It is a good read, she has a certain style to her, also it is allowing me to pick up a feel of the lingo of the time. Mostly it is late night transcriptions of her conversations with her biographer.
Just finished my 134th book called Revelations by Mary Sharratt. Inspirational and historical fiction (heavily researched) about the intersecting lives of two female mystics who changed history—Margery Kempe and Julian of Norwich. I am starting today a book called Kids and Cocktails Don't Mix by Heather Haldeman, a memoir/coming of age story that takes place during the 70's with the backdrop of the Vietnam War.
Well, this was a good one! Just this minute I finished A Betting Woman: A Novel of Madame Moustache
by Jenni L. Walsh.Now I'm starting
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid!
Working my way through the very interesting but dense ‘Victoria. The Queen’. Started ‘Unfinished’ by P. Chopra Jonas for some relief! Enjoying both.
Currently reading The Midnight Library, which I love. I also recommend Never Too Late: From Wannabe to Wife at 62.
Right now I'm reading Beyond Carbon Neutral: How We Fix the Climate Crisis Now . I was drawn in by the subtitle, and so far it seems to be delivering just that - actionable suggestions that could happen now. Interesting read.
Catchup on posting a couple of reviews - The Crow Road by Iain Banks, reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2078259951

Currently reading The Name of the Wind - The Kingkiller Chronicle - Day One by Patrick Rothfuss.Published by Daw Books Inc. - New York, New York (Copyright 2007)
I’m reading 2 books at the moment. I was half way through a thick book called Victoria. The Queen( which is very interesting by the way as it is based on detailed research of her journals letters etc) but for a break I just read Unfinished by Pryanka Chopra. It is a much lighter read but she is a compelling, strong, compassionate woman, and for that reason I enjoyed her story.
Just started The Last of the Moon Girls. I needed a change of pace and this fits the bill quite nicely.
Finished "The Best Detective Stories of Cyril Hare." Hare was the pseudonym for judge and crime writer Alfred Gordon Clark. The stories were originally published in newspapers. They were very good, well-paced crime stories, most with a sly plot twist at the end. I'd never heard of Hare, but I will be looking for his other work (he also wrote novels and a couple stage plays.)
Finished
The Last Quarter of the Moon by Zijian Chi (translated by Bruce Humes). Very moving read. 4 stars. My review:
