I read Mrs. Bridge by Evan S. Connell. It is a poignant portrayal of an upper middle class woman in the 1930s who has internalized patriarchal socialization and can't figure out why she is unhappy. It is subtle, sad, funny, and really well-written. I loved it.

I am currently reading Locked down Bubbling up ( https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... ). It's basically an anthology of short stories and poems from some Irish writers. I thought it fitting to finish the year off by reading that sort of thing. Some of the stories so far are tear-jerkers (which I needed) or humorous, but the grammar is a bit wonky (like first drafty), so I might not review it.

Other than that, I just finished Strands of Existence. My review of that is here: ( https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... ) This was definitely a creative, thoughtful epic fantasy with pretty darn good characterization.
