Coffee with Stranger

A girl shifted to the new city with high hopes. Made friends for life. She falls in love, but she didn't know that her love story had a short life.

She starts getting anonymous notes one by one. Curiously following the instructions as she wants to know the truth and the person behind.

She was asked to come for a coffee date by the stranger. What will happen next? Will she be able to resolve the mystery or will become a victim?

Feel her shoes, because I am sure you will be able to relate to her. Or at least laugh at her funny-sad luck. And just be with her as she battles out her life.

Let's see what can happen over a cup of coffee.

Phyllis Kerr I am now reading What Frees the Heart by Karen Wyle. I am anxious about what is going to happen to the two main characters. They are two hard-working young people trying to over come major life issues. I have a feeling they are headed for a hard time.

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 2898 comments Finished the seventh "Outlander" book. Enjoyed it, but definitely not my favourite of the series, since it took me a while to care about some of the things we were following in this one. Liked it enough to give it four stars though. Now reading book eight.

Bruce E. | 159 comments I am almost half way through "Melissa" by Taylor Caldwell. In some ways it is similar to "The Taming of the Shrew", but still in a fundamental way quite different. Melissa is not a shrew, but even more maladapted. It is a book with almost no characters I like, which for me is usually a death knoll, but not in this case. I am really drawn to it Melissa, who if to this point not very likeable, is extremely compelling. Some of the intellectual issues in the book. which reflect Melissa's trauma, are discussed in a manner that appeals to me. I am very glad to be reading it.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 425 comments I read Disoriental by Négar Djavadi, translated from the French by Tina Kover. It won a lot of writing awards in France. It captures the immigrant experience of an upper class Iranian family forced to flee to France. I thought it was fantastic. I especially enjoyed the narrator's voice. I highly recommend it.

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 2898 comments This week I read three books. Well, finished one and read two others. Either way, here's what I read during the past week, along with my book reviews.

Written in My Own Heart's Blood (Outlander, #8)
by Diana Gabaldon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
As much as I'm a fan of the series, I have to admit this one only just managed to scrape the four star rating I'm giving it. I mean, I really enjoyed this book for the most part, but didn't totally love it, and can think of several things I didn't enjoy about it. There were a few places in this book where I felt like the events or details were drawn out a bit more than they needed to be, a couple of times where the scene - while interesting - really didn't do anything to move the plot forward, and a couple of deaths of minor characters I wish hadn't happened. Also - while the ending isn't a cliffhanger, and I did think it was a lovely ending in many ways - I found it frustrating that things were left as they were as regards Roger and Brianna's part of the story. Other than that though, this was a nice addition to the series, and I look forward to the next book.

Immortal Born (Argeneau #30)
by Lynsay Sands
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book is an excellent addition to this series; a sweet romance, and an action-packed paranormal tale, with plenty of entertaining scenes. If you enjoy those kinds of things, you should read this book, as well as the previous books in the series. No, it's not essential to have read the others before you read this one, since you won't be lost if you don't know who everyone is. I do suggest you try to though, since there are some things you'll only know about some of the characters if you've read their stories in previous books.

The Dancing Bear
by Michael Morpurgo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
My actual rating is 3.5 stars, but I rounded up. It would have been a five star read for me, but the ending felt kind of sudden and lacking in emotion. Up until that point I thought it was an excellent and beautiful read, but the ending was a disappointment, which took away a lot of my enjoyment of the rest of the story.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 425 comments I read Stay with Me by Ayọ̀bámi Adébáyọ̀. It is set in Nigeria. The narrative unfolds through the alternating first-person voices of a husband and wife. The plot is well-constructed with shocking revelations interspersed throughout. The narrative weaves elements of Nigerian culture, traditions, customs, and folk tales. I thought it was very well done.

message 2899: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 425 comments I read The Break by Katherena Vermette. A dark and intense intergenerational family saga that sheds light on the plight of Métis women in Canada. The story is very powerful; the language, beautiful; the execution, problematic. This is not an easy read because of the nature of the subject matter.
