J.R. | 465 comments One of the books I'm currently enjoying is World Chase Me. Down by Andrew Hilleman. Gritty historical fiction, makes you feel the dust off the streets and smell the stockyards in 1900 Omaha. A mix of pathos and humor.

Deborah Baldwin (goodreadscomdeborah_baldwin) | 25 comments About 2/3 's way through reading In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume. I'm enjoying her characterizations and I'm wigged out that the story is based on a real event.

Jane Jago In a Flash: The Wounded Hero Collection
By Annie Arcane.

This is by turns, sweet and very bitter. Not for the easily shocked, but highly recommended.

J. (jdrew) | 153 comments I just finished The Alphabet House by Jussi Adler-Olsen and wasn't impressed, great plot line but moved way too slowly for me. Now reading People of Darkness (Leaphorn & Chee, #4) by Tony Hillerman People of Darkness and already into it. I count on Tony Hillerman to keep things moving. So far, he's not disappointed.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 425 comments I finished a delightful book called The Frozen Thames.
It may not be for everyone, but I loved it partly because I grew up in England. The river flowed at the end of our garden/yard, so the book brought back some wonderful memories of rowing down the river on our canoe.
I was even more thrilled when I read the author was born in Kingston-Upon-Thames, about 10 minutes from where I lived. She now lives in Canada and is classified as a Canadian author. Some of you may be familiar with her.

Crikey - where to start? They are mainly fantasy, I suppose, though with elements of science fiction and huge dollops of humour. They take place on a flat, magical world, which often mirrors our own. They are inhabited by characters who fans come to love. My favourites are Death, Rincewind and the Librarian, though there are so many others: Carrot, Granny Weatherwax, Vimes, Nobby, Moist Van Lipwig...

They are my go-to series of books when I feel like a little cheering up or escapism or downright entertainment and I return to them time and again.

Like any books, they aren't to everybody's taste, but if they're to yours, you have hours upon hours of delights ahead. I'm quite envious.

Here's a link which sets out the order in which he wrote them:
https://www.terrypratchettbooks.com/d...

Some people argue that you shouldn't regard the first two as being representative of the series as a whole because they are more a parody of the fantasy genre and the series doesn't truly find its feet until the third. However, I love the first two as well.

Hope you enjoy!
