What are you currently reading (or just finished)?
I just finished Reading "The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto" by Mitch Albom and now I'm reading "The House of Daniel" by Harry Turtledove
Charles wrote: "Reading Stephen King's On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft. Terrific."Agreed! Absolutely loved this book!
Alice wrote: "Finished Watership Down. Loved it. 4 stars. My Review"
Glad to hear you enjoyed it so much.
Alice wrote: "I'm starting A Fine Balance."That book has been on my TBR list for a long time. How are you liking it?
I've done the Prologue and first chapter, and I feel drawn in. I know very little about Indian society and culture (the only information coming from two films: "Water" and "The Slumdog Millionaire") and the story has got me intrigued.
Just finishing Gary Inbinder's "The Devil in Montmartre" and reading Colin Dexter's "Death is Now My Neighbor."
Alice wrote: "I've done the Prologue and first chapter, and I feel drawn in. I know very little about Indian society and culture (the only information coming from two films: "Water" and "The Slumdog Millionaire"..."I haven't seen "Water", but is sounds good. I'm going to give it a try.
I finished The Complete H.P. Lovecraft Collection. Then I read The Light Beyond the Storm Chronicles, The Shining Citadel, The Stolen Tower, and Tales of Erana: The Warrior's Curse. Now I'm reading Tales of Erana: Myths and Legends.
You're powering through Victoria!I just finished the short story collection of spinoffs from Lovecraft - The Disciples of Cthulhu edited by Edward P Berglund.

Thanks, Pam!
I haven't read that one... Any good?

Have a look at my review Victoria if you want the detailed review of each story - the link in post 524 takes you to it. I only enjoyed 2 of the stories so I was only able to give the collection an 'ok' 2 star reading I'm afraid.
Just finished The Earth Witch by Louise Lawrence. Have read about 6 books by this YA writer of the 1960s-80s and this is by far the best.

Fair enough.
Just finished a thriller called Pale Horse Coming about corruption and vengeance at a prison farm in the deep South, and about to start The Violet Crow, a murder mystery with a psychic detective. I'm a sucker for Dresden Files-y mysteries where the detective has some sort of magic or superpower, I guess :P
Started The Blood Gospel a few days ago. So far I like it better than the last book I read. We'll see since this is also a part of a series.
just finished Andrew Mayne's "How to Write a Novella in 24 Hours" and am started on Austin Quinn's "Parcel". It is a sudden shift to go from mystery and apocolypic novels (Benjamin Wallace and Andrew Mayne) to a dystopian future novel (Quinn's) but it has me hooked thus far.
Just finished reading Memories of Ash which was great, and now onto The Well of Ascension, which I should of read ages ago when I finished the first book in the series.
Finished Book 1 in Jenny Nimmo's fantasy trilogy for children - The Snow Spider
, and Jambusters
about the contribution of countrywomen organised by the Womens' Institute during WWII.
I'm readingHarbinger: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 3
by Marcia Meara. She started writing books at age 69; how awesome is that?
I have just finished Greg Rigby's "The Jesus Phenomenon". An intriguing read in which Mr Rigby postulates that elements of Christianity such as monotheism, the concept of the Son of God, of Jesus being born of a virgin, his subsequent death and resurrection, were all were influenced by the God Kings of ancient Egypt, and indeed goes on the speculate as to whether Jesus was also descended from the Pharaohic line.
Since my last update, I read Legends of Fire, Gabby and the Quads, Plateau: Beyond the Trees, Beyond 2012, and Salt to the Sea.Now I'm reading The Amber Project.
Just finished The Girl in the Garden, a well-written novel about the dangers of keeping family secrets. Now starting Six of Crows.
I am just about to start "The Conviction" by John Mathews, which I am led to believe is action packed.
I have just finished John Mathew's "The Conviction" and am about to start his "A Game of Greed and Deception".
Just finished I am Half-Sick of Shadows, number 4 in the Flavia de Luce cosy mystery series by Alan Bradley.
I just finished "The Fault in Our Stars" and am currently working on:The Girl on the Train
Stardust
Never Let Me Go
and a few on Kindle that I'll likely have to restart.
I've finished The Amber Project, and also read Think-A-Lot-Tots: The Animal Cell, Think-A-Lot-Tots: The Neuron, and Transient Echoes. Now I'm reading My Boney Girl and The Enchanted April.
Re-reading Last Train from Earth, Read it when it first came out and was "pulled" back to read it again. One of my favorites (but I still like Heinlein's stuff better -- than anything).
I've finished A Fine Balance and have given it 5 stars. Here's My Review if anyone is interested.I'm now reading Antigone by Jean Anouilh - a play written during the Nazi occupation of France in WW2.
I am reading Simply Bob: searching for the Essence by Robert Brown and I have recently finished My Father's Son by John Davis
Alice wrote: "I'm now reading Antigone by Jean Anouilh - a play written ..."Ooh, I've read part of it when studying it alongside other adaptations of Antigone and keep meaning to get around to reading all of it. I hope you enoy it!
