Dave Letterfly wrote: "These are all such great recommendations! If anyone has read anything spectacular recently I'd love to hear it, I'm feeling a little uninspired by my recent reads..."I looked at your stuff Dave, we have similar interests and earth time. Call it self-promotion or a heartfelt recommendation, but I really think you would enjoy my book. I would not recommend it if it wasn't good!

Finished "The Broken Girls," by Simone St. James - quite good. While I was reading it, I thought it might do well as a True Detective series - most of them involve the unearthing of a past mystery, and most of them that were originals, rather than options, have been pretty weak, IMHO.Also read "The Honjin Murders" by Seishi Yokomizo. A locked room mystery written in 1946, first serialized over several months and then issued as a novel.
Finished The Fortune Teller by Natasha Boydell and reviewed it. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The Pawn by Stephen James. Mr. James is an excellent writer. That being said, I felt the narrative was just too focused on the blood and gore. I wish he had left off describing too much of the darkness. The reader knows without having to wade through each drop of blood spilled by the crazed serial killer. If he would do that I would read all of his books. As it is, I couldn't finish the book. I stopped about halfway through.
Read and reviewed a few more, sadly not to my taste:The Brightest Star in the Sky - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Alone - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
It Ends At Midnight - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
