So this will be a bit all over the place due to the fact that I had last read this book about four years ago.
(view spoiler)[The book starts out with a group of friends that are on a space station. They have technology implanted into them from a young age. Essentially they have the functions of a computer but in their brain. They can download drugs to alter the brain and see different ads that people/businesses are putting out. I believe they were also able to communicate via linking themselves together and talking through their brains.
This group of young friends decided to go to a rave/party(literally just an area with lights, the music is playing straight into their heads) and overhear talk about a hacking spree happening recently. This hacking spree is other people forcibly entering your mind and infecting it with some type of malware? or whatever the book called it.
This just so happens to have happened to this group of YA. I believe one of them drop to the floor unconscious and they all feel the attack. Authorities come and grab the YA to quarantine them from the rest of the populace in fear of this cybernetic disease spreading. (hide spoiler)]
That is the general gist of the book; there are bits a pieces that are probably wrong in what I said, but that is the best I could remember. I would like to say this book is from the mid to late-ish 20th century.
Any help is appreciated.
