Hilary (bookboss) Feel better soon, Taryn!

Are we supposed to record our books read here in order for them to count for the challenge?

check it here

We really stepped it up during this read-a-thon. Great work team!!

message 911: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you! And I love this team!!

message 912: by [deleted user] (new)

Tbh, I just really love this challenge because I can just read at my own pace with not a whole lot of pressure, but it's enough of a challenge that it's not easy to win or anything. Hope I can participate again.

Just finished A Million Sons! It wasn't as good as the first one (Across The Universe) but it was still pretty interesting.

Yep, this challenge was my gateway drug to A) getting social on Goodreads and actually posting in groups, and B) team challenges. It hooked me on both, and I never looked back.

And I finished Maybe Someday (Maybe, #1) by Colleen Hoover today. I dunno....I just don't get the huge hype about it. With all of the amazing reviews, I guess I had my expectations a bit too high.

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments Who wants a mini team challenge? Since we are approaching the end of this game, this will probably take us to the finish!

Elves with Deep Secrets Mini Challenge
Duration: January 20 - February 10

RULES

It's always nice to get to know our fellow team members and their deepest, darkest secrets (we are deep elves, after all!). In this mini-challenge you will read books related to your answers to Taryn's "random questions" from earlier in the game.

To earn points for this challenge, read a book which corresponds to your answers to the following questions. You may use the suggested themes/colors I've identified (many of which can apply to other categories), or be creative and come up with your own way to tie your book into your answer. The sky's the limit! When you've finished your book, be sure to include how you think it fits your answer.

Any book finished during the dates of the challenge will count.

If a book covers multiple questions/answers, you can get a point for each way it fits. I challenge you to find one book that fits all ten questions! 20 bonus points if you do!

You will also earn 3 extra points if your book is a BR or BOM book. Be sure to link to your comments in the BR/BOM thread as you do in our books read thread in order to get your points.

You may choose to participate as much as you desire. It's just a fun way to focus on reading as much as we can in the next few weeks until the challenge ends. The points are just for us and to inspire some friendly competition amongst ourselves.

Please make one post to track your progress on this challenge, and I will link them all below and on the front page of this thread. I'll tally everyone's points at the end and crown a new Elf Queen!

The Points
1 point per category that each book read matches
3 points per book for each buddy read or book of the month discussion
20 points for each book that matches all 10 questions

Yeah, that's what I've seen as well. And I did like the book. I just didn't see it as this amazing masterpiece as so many others did. The writing was a bit too juvenile for my taste.

And I'll be posting my mini-challenge soon!

And we met up with some book bloggers I know, which was a lot of fun as well (: I'm still feeling my legs, we walked so much

I pulled out of that other team challenge (it was turning into straight drama...ain't nobody got time for that!), but I'm going to miss doing team challenges.

Tower Teams takes a longer break usually, because it's such a big challenge. It's a lot of work for the Mods to manage it back to back. But they do shorter 6 week team challenges in between TT rounds. It looks like they're working on a new version of Wheel-a-thon, which should start up fairly quickly after TT.

message 940: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments I can also steer you to other team challenges in other groups that I play regularly, but they are more category-based. Games like Bingo where each week a new category is called and you read a book that fits. So it's less control over what you read, but the cats are generally big enough you can find something to easily fit. Also it's only a book a week commitment, though there are usually separate teams that run a faster game reading two categories a week.

Don't know if that's what you're looking for, but it's something to play and you work together as a team.

From Wiki
Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales, and raising of the Flag of Great Britain at that site by Governor Arthur Phillip. In contemporary Australia, celebrations reflect the diverse society and landscape of the nation, and are marked by community and family events, reflections on Australian history, official community awards, and citizenship ceremonies welcoming new immigrants into the Australian community

Tower Teams Australia Day Scavenger Hunt

See how many items you can find!
The items need to form part of the book title, author name, character name, or be an image on the cover, or occur somewhere in the story of the book you are reading.
Your team will get 5 points for each item found (one item per book), and if more than 75% of your team members find an item, you will get a bonus 30 points!

Note:Individuals can only find each item once, but multiple people on a team can find the same item. So if two people on the team read a book with a dog on the cover, both would claim 5 points, but that same person couldn't then claim "dog" again

I'm reading HP and Half-Blood Prince. The weirdest words in the list I could find were "Opals" and a character named "Eric". Then there are other easier ones in there, like tree and grass, but I figure we should get the hard ones out of the way first right?

Crab
Eric
