~Melissa~ I finished up my re-read and buddy read for Cut & Run (Cut & Run, #1) by Abigail Roux - love Ty and Zane.

I can't count book 2 (I used a re-read recently for SS challenge) - I will be re-reading it though so I can stay in order,lol

~Melissa~ Finding the missing elf

I have a book with Up in the title that I'm planning to read this month: All Fired Up

message 658: by Cee (new)

Cee | 39 comments Melissa - I'd say that's pink. Maybe one of the Mods can give final judgement?

I just started World War Z, which has a white cover
World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks

message 659: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments Was Big Little Lies a buddy read, or did we all just happen to be reading it around the same time.

Also I just finished Churches That Abuse Help for Those Hurt by Legalism, Authoritarian Leadership by Ronald M. Enroth . Would this work for purple? Or any other part of the new challenge?

message 660: by Logan (last edited Dec 02, 2014 10:59AM) (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments Wheeee! New challenge!!

For my books coming up I've got lots of red, and also some black, purple, white, pink and blue that I think will work:
The Student Prince (The Student Prince, #1) by FayJay The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1) by Alexandra Bracken Touch & Geaux (Cut & Run, #7) by Abigail Roux Black Ice (Ice, #1) by Anne Stuart Spell Bound (Hex Hall, #3) by Rachel Hawkins or Changeling Moon (Changeling, #1) by Dani Harper .

For directions, they suggest "in" and I have that for Murder in the South of France (Maggie Newberry Mysteries, #1) by Susan Kiernan-Lewis .

message 661: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments One of the mods posted this link to help determine colors from images: http://www.coolphptools.com/color_ext....

I think we'll still want to double check, but this is a good place to start.

After I signed up, I realized there was no way my team would catch up so it kinda dampened my excitment for the challenge

message 663: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments We're down there in the trenches with you Ezi. It'll still be fun. :)

We need a pink and a purple book so we're good - once I finish it

message 667: by Christine (last edited Dec 02, 2014 03:17PM) (new)

Christine | 0 comments Fun mini-challenge! Here's what I see on my TBR that would work:

Find More Paint: Fourth of July Creek by Smith Henderson The Rosie Project (Don Tillman #1) by Graeme Simsion All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Check the List: Good Omens The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett

Fix Santa's Sleigh:
New Harnesses: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
New Stuffing and Fabric: All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters
New Rails Les Misérables by Victor Hugo
Paint Remover: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments I've wanted to read Les Mis for ages. Love this list, Christine! You win the organized post points. ;)

Haha! Does our team get credit for those? ;-) I'll try to find more books that could work later this week.

Les Mis has been good so far, but a bit of a marathon. I'm hoping I'll finish it this month.

message 670: by [deleted user] (new)

What else do we need for the mini-challenge? I'll be in if we need more readers.

message 671: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey so I just finished The Gunslinger (The Dark Tower, #1) by Stephen King .

If this cover fits anything, let me know, and I'll add it in there. (Sorry, I read the challenge rules, but kind of just skimmed and don't really know how I fit in since you guys have been discussing it. Want to help if I can, but also don't want to make things more confusing lol)

message 672: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments Does the book need to be started after the 2nd or finished after the 2nd? I finished a book today that has a cover that is 90% purple. Churches That Abuse Help for Those Hurt by Legalism, Authoritarian Leadership by Ronald M. Enroth

message 673: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I definitely want to participate! I just haven't had a chance to see where my books fit in yet. lol I'll work on it now. :)

This will work - had to be at least 50% of the color :)

Big Little Lies was a Buddy read as long as you make comments with someone from another TT in the buddy read thread.

message 676: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments What I plan to read during the challenge that fits:

Red- The Hidden Ones (Legacy of the Watchers, #1) by Nancy Madore Jurassic Park (Jurassic Park, #1) by Michael Crichton
Orange- The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
Blue- Shift (Silo, #2, Wool, #6-8) by Hugh Howey

I also have a skinny book, but I need to check if I have the 128 page version, which won't work for Santa's Sleigh, or the 122 page version, which will work - Christmas Jars.

I also have a chimney planned out, but I have one book that is short, so I have to see if it counts first. The books included are The Rosie Effect, Shift, The Hidden Ones, & The Importance of Being Earnest. If I can use Earnest, then I can make a chimney. Obviously, I won't be able to use the books for the color challenge, if I use them for the chimney.

If I cannot use Earnest for the chimney, does anyone else have a book that begins with T and ends with T that they want to read for the challenge?

message 677: by Kristie (last edited Dec 04, 2014 06:08PM) (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Logan - Do we already have some kind of spread sheet for the mini-challenge? Somewhere we can note where people sign up to read certain books for the challenge so that we know what is already going to be read and what we still need? I have a quick list if you need it. PERFECTT!

I feel like The Gunslinger would fit the Black cover.

message 679: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh...also I'm seeing that any book we read between the dates will fit into the cover challenge, right? So we can kind of just stack 'em all up in there.

message 680: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Anything with a read date between Dec 2nd and Jan 30th would work. We want to try to get one of each color and try to fit in the other parts of the challenge too. The more we complete, the more points we get and there is a bonus if you complete them all.

message 681: by [deleted user] (new)

I am reading The Eye of the World which is exactly 800 pages. It should be done within the next week.

message 682: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Woot! Logan - Would you like me to start some updates to the list or do you have something else in mind already?

message 683: by Cee (last edited Dec 03, 2014 03:43AM) (new)

Cee | 39 comments I think we're set on most of the quests - especially the colour one is pretty easy. I've found four titles that make a chimney together, and I guess I'll just read those? Kind of divide the quests amongst us? ^^

I've made:

message 684: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Excellent Celine. My chimney didn't work out. If it's ok with Logan, I'll add it to the list. :)

I am reading Cress which is a GR award nominee, so I'll sign up for that slot.

message 685: by ~Melissa~ (last edited Dec 03, 2014 05:14AM) (new)

~Melissa~ I'm about halfway through my pink cover book Dirty Laundry (Cole McGinnis, #3) by Rhys Ford

I'm about 40% in of listening to Blackbirds (Miriam Black, #1) by Chuck Wendig - could work for Black cover but I see Taryn's recent read works for that. It could also work for check the list as a bad boy.

message 686: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Kristin- I hope your son recovers quickly!

message 693: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments So, I started adding to the list in message # 731 just to get a little organized. (I hope you don't mind, Logan!) Please let me know if I added you for too many books for you or the wrong books or if I missed something that fits in somewhere else. We had a lot of duplicates, so I just added in a bunch. If you want changes or see where I can move a book to be able to add another read, please let me know. If you can't read something that you signed up for, please let me know that too so I can take it off the list and someone else can try to fill the slot. If you post here after you read a book in the challenge, I will update the list with books read, so we'll know how far along we are.

Currently, we still need:

1 book with direction words in the title (in, out, up, down, north, south, around, etc.)

1 book where the title contains the words good, bad or similar words or where the main character is a bad boy/girl or a good boy/girl

A green cover

message 694: by Kristie (last edited Dec 03, 2014 06:41PM) (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I left a message for the mods for these:

orange - The Gunslinger (The Dark Tower, #1) by Stephen King
pink - Dirty Laundry (Cole McGinnis, #3) by Rhys Ford

UPDATE: Mods said yes to orange and no to pink.

message 695: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Kristie! :)

message 696: by Hilary (new)

Hilary (bookboss) Would The Midwife's Confession by Diane Chamberlain work for green? If so... I am reading it now.

message 697: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I think so!

message 698: by Hilary (new)

Hilary (bookboss) Ok that would be great, we can use that one too, unless someone else has a green covered book they are about done with... Because I just started this one yesterday :)

message 699: by ~Melissa~ (new)
