Caitrionia Wallace is hired as a chaperone to Jamie and Alice as they do the grand tour of Europe. She meets Emile Nouguier on a hot air balloon ride and feels an attraction to him. She later returns to Paris as Jamie gets and apprenticeship with Emile to help construct the Eiffel tower. The storyis supposed to detail the relationship between Cait and Emile but they barely spend any time together in the book. I really disliked Jamie and Alice. I was interested in the information about the construction of the tower but the rest of the story was somewhat boring.
