I found Leon Uris "Redemption Reissue" in a V.A. medical center volunteer book bin last week. The director said "take it "take it and take it I did trapped into the silly saga of the fabulous Larkin Bro S ! until I got so depressed then angry I tossed this nonsense aside . Oh NO the priest and the rich beautiful daughter fall in love? did Rory win a V.C. this is why I hate these silly romantic novels of Ireland's early 20th century rebels with the beautiful wealthy colleen waiting in the wing of the 300 year old manse. First being a terrorist would age a guy he'd not have much time to stay so handsome as the Larkins did no matter what happened What would a real man's writer say James Jones say about that situation? these Larkin boys all over the world with every woman encountered And there were such outstanding lovely lasses that threw themselves after our boys with the crème of the crop of beauties from chasing these men but Larkin men were so good that it did the belles no good the Larkin boys were strictly a one woman only man!, I respect the rebels of the Easter Rebellion but no one looked like he'd just been on the cover of G.Q. either .To get my masters in 20th century world history including WW1 's terrible waste Gallipoi I had to spend month reading almost every single thing written about WW1 from soldier's accounts to historians and listening to their lectures on these very subjects covered in these beloved novels about these out of this world Larkin's. sorry to report there was no one even remotely resembling a Conor Larkin anywhere in Irish history and half a book rehashing of him wore me out. his self educated knowledge and talent of being the best most artist outdoing any Renaissance artist restoring that stupid screen into something so fine that the earth stopped when presented to mylady! I never did understand what that was about anyway a 40 feet high screen in a hall that could hold a 1000 people . Please show us an illustration ! Larkins! everywhere all over the globe doing well in love and war and the re shaping every country within that wicked U.K 's destiny . Had there been a princess in England Conor would of been invited to Buckingham Palace for a suggested from her roll in the sack ! Refused of course by our boy! . For a writer to have served in WW2 in the USMC I'm shocked at Leon Uris writing such feminine crap for middle aged women bored looking for adventure .
