Week 42: What are you reading?

What book took the longest to read this year? Was it worth it?

I'm still working on Outlander, and I feel like I've been at it for months, even though it's only been 3 1/2 weeks or so. I usually don't push through a book I'm not super interested in, but Outlander is just keeping me hanging on. Luckily, I should be done this week, and I'm looking forward to it! It's a decent story, but I'm not sure if it's worth so many hours listening to it in the car...

In addition to that, I picked up Throne of Glass last week and flew threw the first two books in the series. I'm now reading the final installment, Heir of Fire and hope to finish it before I get on a plane to Monterey, CA this weekend.

I finished Deliverance, read Closer to Home by Mercedes Lackey (first book in a new trilogy in the Valdemar series), the rest of the books I read were new to me authors: A Spy in the House by Y.S. Lee, The Lavender Garden by Lucinda Riley, and An Expert in Murder by Nicola Upson (good series featuring Josephine Tey as the main character).

That was fun just looking at my list of books for this year to answer your question! My longest was also a Diana Gabaldon, but it was #8. I think it too me so long to read since I wanted to savor each word as I know it takes her 5+ years to write each installment. Keep at it Liz, they are worth it!

Thanks, Pattie. I've always heard really great things, and I'm starting to get pretty sucked into Jamie's story. Not sure if I care as much about Claire... I also want to be able to watch the show and know what came first, with the books.

The longest book of the year for me was Gone with the Wind. I actually finished in record time because it mesmerized me.
Currently, I am reading Cinder & have The Postcard Killers on CD in the car.

So far the longest book for me to read was actually Origin in Death, because I was listening to it in my car on my commute (which isn't very long). Now I'm listening to The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown (still). Both books were worth the effort to listen to it. There is so much more in the book that wasn't mentioned in the movie of The Da Vinci Code. I think I'll actually read The Lost Symbol when I'm done with this audio.

The longest book for me so far was A Feast for Crows by George R. R. Martin, but the next one would be A Dance with Dragons because I've been dragging it out.

Keep at it, Liz! I listened to Outlander on audio and it seemed like it took forever to get through it.

I finished Outlander! It was a glorious feeling to finally download a new book. I appreciated the story and understand why so many people love Claire and Jamie's story, but I don't think the series is for me. I doubt I will continue with it.
