I'd a question for someone who's read the book. You know, in Chapter 12, narrated in Cassie's pov, what does it signify when she says -

“Latched on to her like a pilot fish. I thought of Evan lurking behind doors and around corners. I thought of the unblemished thing, the thing that lasts, and I thought the only thing with the power to save us also had the power to slay us.”

I think it means love but can't be certain. Whaddya think?

I'm having that problem too! Especially since I was just thinking about how I'm having trouble remembering who's who. It's been a while since I've read the previous book and most of the characters didn't stand out that much.

Also the whole survival vs being a good person thing, and how the POV person knows that it would make their chances of survival easier if they let Teacup die, but it would break their word and make them no better than the aliens. (hide spoiler)]

I'm actually really liking the book a lot - having a hard time putting it down, I can't tell how far I am now, it's an audible audio book and there doesn't seem to be a percentage anywhere, but I'm maybe an hour away from finishing now.

You're right, it did get better! I had such a hard time figuring out who the first person was, but the next 2 POV changes were pretty easy to figure out.

I finished the book last night (loved it) - small cliffhanger, not as large as the first one.

Ringer: (view spoiler)[ She ended up being my favorite character. Her cliffhanger was the largest... she was falling. and that's it!? and holy crap, they added the extra boost to her body! Does this mean she's like Grace now? (hide spoiler)]

Grace: (view spoiler)[ She is crazy! Super ultra-can't be hurt cosmo girl, as Cassie says. I think I'm still confused as to what the deal with her and Evan is.. (hide spoiler)]

Cassie/Evan: (view spoiler)[ Yay that he came back to her, but Cassie got a little weirdly possessive and jealous in this book and I'm unsure how I feel about their relationship still. (hide spoiler)]

I kind of felt that Ringer and Cassie were the same character. Obviously their situations were different but their thoughts were pretty much similar. Like they kept using the sentence structure of "_A_ was _B_ and _B_ was _A_" which annoyed me a lot :\

Didn't connect much with any of the characters this time round compared to the first book. Honestly quite disappointed as the plot was draggy (Ringer's time as a prisoner and Cassie + others going nowhere) (hide spoiler)]

I've read up to chapter 14: (view spoiler)[ So far I am really confused there are loads of POV but I don't always know which character it is. I think it would have been easier to understand if the author had stated which character was narrating at the start of the chapter. It's a bit slow to start but I am hoping that the pace will pick up. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 29: (view spoiler)[ I think I have gotten used to the changings POVs as I am not as confused anymore. The pacing of this book seems much better than the first book. I am still not loving this story but I am liking it a bit better than the first book. I feel that I am appreciating the writing more in this book as there are some really well-written lines so far. When I read the first book I really didn't take much notice of the writing as I couldn't get into the story. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 48: (view spoiler)[ Things just got crazy! I can't believe that Ben dropped the bag with the bomb in that seems so stupid. I also can't believe that the Others turn humans into bombs that is just insane. the pacing of this book is so much better than the first. The chapters are shorting and have a lot of action packed into them. I know many people prefer the first book but I have to say I'm enjoying this one more. (hide spoiler)]

Finished: (view spoiler)[ I actually ended up liking this more than the first book. It still isn't a favourite for me but I thought it was a lot better. The pacing in this was much better and I found that the story didn't drag as much as it did in the first one. There were still moments where the story was a bit slow. I preferred seeing Ringer's POV as I found this plot a lot more interesting than Cassie's POV. The changing of POV didn't happen as often in this book so I wasn't as confused. I was very surprised that I enjoyed this book, I was expecting to hate it like the first one. The only reason I decided to read it was because I already owned the book but I was left pleasantly surprised. I will be picking up the last book when it comes out to see how the story gets wrapped up. (hide spoiler)]
