Evelyn | 1410 comments Ooh, glad to hear that Greg, I will check my library for the other one!

message 102: by Gill (new)

Gill | 5719 comments Evelyn, how successful are you being at not buying extra books?

message 103: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Oh Gill, I was doing soooooo good, and then while I was on vacation last week I bought three more.....

message 104: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Mariana 4 stars - really liked this time travel, with a mystery tossed in.

message 105: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Unspoken 2 stars. This had the potential to be a very interesting mystery, teenage mother told her daughter dies at birth, even has official death certificate, finds out 9 years later her daughter is still alive. Why, why, why??? Enter probable father of said daughter, throw mystery out the window and commence bodice ripping. Disappointing.

Evelyn | 1410 comments The Lovely Bones 2 stars. Promising beginning, worst similies ever, ending that made no sense whatsoever.

Same opinion! I was really disillusioned after all the things I had seen written!

message 108: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments It was like someone halfway through changed the plot.....

I didn't care for this one either. I still am a bit bemused by all the hype it got.

Evelyn | 1410 comments Miss You Forever 3 stars. Nice, quick, feel good summer read. Supposedly a story told through an elderly lady's diaries, however, did not read like a diary at all. Too pat at the end as well, all the good guys live happily ever after.

message 111: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Sarum 3 stars. This took me three weeks to read! Enjoyed the rise and fall of the various families followed through the generations, but was not able to really connect to the place.

message 112: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Scarlet Feather 3 stars - reminded me of Seinfeld, a story about nothing. Loved Simon and Maude, very precocious 9 year old twins

message 113: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments The Bridges of Madison County 2 stars - I didn't see the beauty and the passion some others saw, I only saw the pain that adultery causes everyone involved, including children.

The Island 3 stars - enjoyed learning about the leper colony on Spinalonga and the types of treatment, etc

message 114: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments My Name is Memory - 4 stars. This was very different, thoroughly enjoyed the flashbacks in time intertwined with the current day story

message 115: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments The Affair 4 stars. I thought this was done really well, the wife, husband and mistress each had their own section and told the same story from their point of view. Very real, no winners, no innocent party. The end was a bit hokey though.

message 116: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments The Power of Why 3 stars. A good reminder that questioning leads to innovation and positive change.

message 117: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments The Bridge Across Forever - 1 star. Not my kind of book, too airy fairy.

message 118: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Fortune's Hand - 3 stars. A story of a man who has it all and loses it all.

message 119: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Coming Home - 2 stars. Fluff, just what I needed as I recuperated from the flu.

message 120: by Angela M (new)

Angela M Evelyn , we all need a little fluff sometimes . Feel better soon.

message 121: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Thanks Angela : )

message 122: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Winter Solstice 4 stars - great book to get one in the Christmas spirit

message 123: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments The Things We Do For Love 3 stars - a story that proves you can go home again, and you don't need to be related to be family

message 124: by Erica (new)

Erica | 944 comments Only one more to go! You've done well!

message 125: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Thank you! This has been a great challenge, all my unread books now fit stacked singly in my bookcases....

dely | 5214 comments Evelyn wrote: "Thank you! This has been a great challenge, all my unread books now fit stacked singly in my bookcases...."

Congratulations for having completed it! It's surely a great satisfaction and accomplishment.

message 127: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Thank you dely, it is. I am definitely doing this again in 2016!

dely | 5214 comments Evelyn wrote: "Thank you dely, it is. I am definitely doing this again in 2016!"

I have added this challenge for next year. I have more than 50 books to read. I think I won't be able to complete it in one year seen that I'm sure that other books will come my way in the meanwhile.

message 129: by Angela M (new)

Angela M Evelyn , your my inspiration to get to some books that I already own . Great job of sticking to this !

message 130: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Thanks Angela- wishing both you and dely success in reducing your unread books in 2016 as well!

In November I moved into a 5 level split, and my bookcases are on the top level of course. Humping all those boxes of books up all those stairs quickly inspired me to read and pass on as many as possible in this next year, before my lease ends and I move again next November...... My goal for 2016 is 60 already owned unread books.

Wow, congratulations Eveyln!! I really want to focus on my unread books next year - you have inspired me :)

message 132: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments That's great Leslie! Good luck : )

message 133: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1410 comments Spider Bones - 2 stars. Too many acronyms, too much explanation of US Government departments. Main character was a female Casanova, with a sarcastic sense of humour.
