I was surprised how much I hated reading this book. I was constantly conscious of her unceasing allusions to popular culture.
Typical paragraph: Topic sentence, "look how hip I am" sentence sentence "look how aware I am of the world" sentence "look how much I remember of culture from when I was little" sentence.
If there was a plot I do not remember it, and would never recommend this book to anyone.

DEAD ON. I picked it up, read about two pages and was like, Nope. It's almost nice how easy it is to tell when a new author is a desperate wanna-be versus a real, literary writer.
