Sally906 Not doing a very good job contributing this weekend I'm afraid. Started off with a headache that lasted most of yesterday and today I am spending the afternoon with grandchildren which will not include quiet reading time :)

I have managed 52 pages with The Essence of the Thing by Madeleine St. John and will try and get some reading time in this evening :)

Thank you Sandy! Yeah... I don't know why but if I'm going to read two or more books at a time there has to be a difference between them. For example, if I'm reading two fiction books, I try to mix a classic with a horror or a mystery one. For non fiction it's the same. It's a bit weird! Haha!

i finished it yesterday, and yes, I ended up liking it. It was strange at times, and I was a bit indifferent to some parts, but other parts were wonderful and surprisingly clever. I also know that if I had read this as a child, I would have loved it. And that is in my opinion the most important thing about a children's book :)

Kirsten this was one of my most favourite books as a child but I have only recently discovered the other 4 books the author wrote about the family. They are all unusual and send your thoughts spinning.

Gail (appleshoelace) I absolutely loved it, Tweedledum - I finished it on Friday. :-) I started reading Alice in Wonderland as a child, but found myself too frustrated with all the things that didn't make sense, so never finished it. But it's always been at the back of my mind that I want to try again, so I finally did, all these years later, and it was great.

Ok. This should be the complete list with the total written up to now. SOme has not written any number, some others have not written about sunday. THerefore I think the total not definitive yet.
Even so we've read more than 20.000 pages!!! We definitly reached what we had said.
Will you please check if I've counted things right and, if nt, tell me? I've added a numer close to each of our names so I can easily find my mistake!!!

message 97: by Meran (new)

Meran | 80 comments It WAS fun. But I read less than "usual".. This time of year is always NUTS for me... From the end of August (trying to end up summer projects before the rains come) and catching up on yard clean up and remodels... Sick dogs. Life interfers most for me in the second half of the year.

Those nice, dull, dreary winter months are great for bed, electric blankets, cuddling dogs, and books! :D
