Two Dean Koontz at Once?"
Yes but I'm going to finish Prodigal Son today, then I'm thinking of reading The Dark by David C. Cassidy next. Also, I'm reading Fear Nothing. I'm saving City of Night for October to read with everyone else. :)

I loved that book :-) My favorite Dean Koontz in recent years.

Did any of you like it?"
OUTSTANDING series. I couldn't put them down!

A lump of concrete dropped deliberately from a little stone bridge over a relatively unfrequented road kills the wrong person. The driver behind is spared. But only fo..."
I usually love Ruth Rendell mysteries and sometimes haunting stories but End In Tears should have been called Bored to Tears! Three-fourths though and I am done. She has changed the characters that I love to bit players and the new detectives are not holding my interest. None of the characters are sympathetic except the orphaned toddler. And sadly, I do not care that the two young women are dead.

Are you going to watch the Ben Afleck movie after?
Are you going to watch the Ben Afleck movie after?

I saw the movie years ago after reading the book. I remember thinking that whoever made the movie either didn't read the book or just didn't "get" it. I understood why Koontz shies away from movies made from his books.
The only one I have seen that was true--was ODD.

True. Most of the movies are pretty bad with lots of changes from what was presented in the book. Odd Thomas is the only one Dean is happy with :-)

You are on a roll. It would make sense to read Seize the Night next since it is the sequel to Fear Nothing :-) Have Fun!

So many choices! I finally got Ashley Bell and am dying to read that one too. :) I'll probably read Seize the Night next though.

Ashley Bell is excellent. Dean's most recent new release & very well received by Koontz fans :-)

I'm enjoying them both! I don't understand why some people don't like Ashley Bell. It's great so far! Have you read any others by Joe Hill? This is my first. I'm going to read Horns next then I'd really like to read 20th Century Ghosts around Halloween. :D

I've only read Heart Shaped Box but someday I plan to read more by Joe Hill. That is a good idea - maybe I'll have to check the library availability for 20th Century Ghosts :-)

The Mask by Koontz
I can't believe I have never read this one! Yippee...and Large Print, too!"
Turned out that I HAD read The Mask. Still, I loved it a second time. I was once again struck by Koontz' ability to describe. His care with words, the crafting of a sentence, a paragraph, a chapter and then a completed book really does blow me away. Especially, the first chapter is amazing writing--utterly amazing. If you read or reread nothing else then do read at least the first chapter of the Mask.

No, I've never read it before. Have you ever read The Talisman? That's the only Stephen Book so far (that I can think of) that I've ever started and put down.

I didn't like Shadowfires the first time I read it - liked it better the second time around.

I haven't read The Talisman either. I've enjoyed most Stephen King books that I've read, but I've read more Dean Koontz of course.

Go for it. Have you read The Stand and Pet Cemetary?

I did Pet Cemetary about 11 years ago. I saw part of The Stand Miniseries as a teenager in the 90's, but haven't attempted the book.

I'm planning to read The Stand one of these days. I've already bought it and have it on my Kindle.

The Paper Doorway: Funny Verse and Nothing Worse
by Dean Koontz *
I almost always enjoy anything Koontz writes but this book of poetry just didn't touch me. Perhaps you really do need to be a child to enjoy this. Perhaps it is my mood but I really did not like any of these poems.
Will pass to my 11 year old granddaughter--perhaps she will like it.

I felt the same way. I wasn't a big fan.
Although, I think it's been over 10 years since I read the book and I'm willing to give it another chance.
