My partner only read comics & graphic novels when I met him, but he's now reading a book on the origins of the first world war and also enjoys other history books. He still doesn't read fiction.

I think there are some good points in that list - I never have to justify what I'm reading & he thinks I'm super-intelligent because I read so much! I'd have thought he'd have realised that last one wasn't true by now though!

That's very true, David. I think he likes the fast pace and being able to read a whole story in one sitting. And, of course, there's the visual element - he also really loves films.

Thanks for posting this David. I had to send it to my son (who not only reads a lot of books, but wants to own them too! -- he'll definitely need someone who will let him take over the house with his books).

My husband and I have totally different tastes in books, and he reads a lot slower than I do. But we both have our own bookcases.

My boyfriend loves graphic novels but not fiction so much. He would rather watch a movie for the visual representation. I tell him the plots of all the good books I read knowing he won't read them but he will listen and comment.

I will just comment here that I was - note the past tense- married to a non-reader for 17 years...did not end well. I think my number one dating question, if I ever decide to get out there again will be: what's the last book you read? :)
