It was a young adult scary novel. Possibly along the lines of something written by Mary Downing Hahn. The woman ghost had a strong smell of perfume whenever she would appear and she was a malevolent spirit. The children ghosts were two little girls I think. One day they were hiding in a secret compartment and suffocated to death when they were unable to get out. That's all I have for now!
