Well, fall is officially here. The leaves are changing and the temperatures continue to drop, but we’re keeping things nice and steamy here at Open Road.

For this month’s Retro Read, we decided to choose one of our featured Passion in the Wild West titles: Outlaw in Paradise by Patricia Gaffney. A legendary gunfighter brings big trouble to a frontier town, and ignites the passion of a local saloon owner in this Western romance.



Western romances seem to be having a renaissance. Are you a reader of the genre? Outlaw in Paradise was first published in 1997. Does the romance between Jesse and Cady stand the test of time or does it feel outdated?

I for one am happy to hear western romances are coming back in style. I never once had the thought the book felt dated. I love this story. There were a few times the story dragged, but a lady with a tattoo, and maybe a weakness for the bad boy type of that age was a lot of fun. I would say this one passed the test of time.
