As Avalon swam closer to the surface of the water it was as if she could hear her mother chiding her. Curiosity killed the catfish, she had been told repeatedly, always having gotten herself into things she wasn't supposed to. Curiosity was her only way out though, and she just couldn't ignore it. Avalon slowly broke through the surface of the water, coming up slowly and hoping there was no one around. Her long brown hair flowed behind her in the water, and she closed her eyes, grateful for the presence of the sun.
(Oh yeah! We forgot to do characters! Do you want to do that now, before we continue?)
(Ah... detailed. Name, age, appearance, personality, history)

(that's okay. I'm still doing assignments)

(Okay. I have to finish a couple of assignments first)

Age: 19
Appearance:

Avalon has long brown hair that's slightly wavy, and hazel eyes. She has a very fair complexion and pink lips. Her tail is a deep purple and leads into a nice blue (view spoiler)
Personality: Avalon is a curious girl, and often times she lets her curiosity get the best of her. She's never afraid to say what she's thinking, and her blunt and opinionated nature often times get her into heaps of trouble. Avalon is adamant when it comes to telling others the truth, and she isn't afraid to give a sarcastic remark to what she may believe to be a stupid comment or question. Underneath all this though, Avalon genuinely cares for those who are closest to her. She's extremely loyal and can be counted on for nearly anything. Her loving and compassionate nature - though initially hard to see - is what those who are closest to her love about her.
History: Avalon is the daughter of Mariah and Christopher Nelumbo. She is an only child and has grown up with everything that she's ever wanted. While Avalon may be spoiled, her parents made sure to raise a grateful and appreciative daughter. At the young age of 7 she had learned all that she could about the human world from her place in the sea, and she vowed that one day she would go and explore. At the age of 15 she convinced a friend of hers to go up to the surface with her, seeing as she was too scared to go by herself. They never made it up, having been caught by her friends father, and they were scolded for it. However, Avalon was determined. At 16 she made it up by herself, and it was an experience she would never forget, nor would she regret despite the huge punishment that awaited her once she got back. Since then she's been determined to find her way back to the surface and explore some more.

Name: Reed Payne
Age: 24
Appearance:

Reed has short dark brown hair and blue eyes. He is fairly tall, standing at around 5'9, and is in good shape. While he's not bulky, he's lean and cut.
Personality: Reed has the best intentions in mind, but may not always go about doing things the "right" way. There is almost never any grey area with Reed, there's only black and white. He can often times be quite blunt without meaning to and doesn't really get figurative language. With Reed you have to mean exactly what you say because he tends to take things at face value. He has very few people that he's close to, but the people who are close to him mean the world to him, and he would do anything to help them.
History: Reed's mom passed away when he was very young, and his father never remarried, so Reed spent much of his time alone. His father was a strict business man, which is probably where Reed got it from. While his father was quite strict, he loved his son dearly, and there are many moments that Reed can recall his father setting time aside to play with him and help him grow as an individual. Reed was always a quiet child, both in school and at home, and was exceedingly smart. It was no surprise to anyone when he followed in his fathers footsteps and got a job working for the government as well.
((I wasn't sure what age range you wanted to work with, so I hope this is fine. We can change it if you'd like though.))["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
(I love them! I've actually used Avalon's picture in a different RP, which sadly never got beyond the introductory posts due to my partner pulling out. Their ages are definitely fine, as I was putting the fisherman - who I've named Jonas - at about 18 or 19)
(I've almost finished my assignments. My characters should be up in the next 24 hours.
(Sorry! I know they're not up yet, but I'm getting there. This assignment is taking longer than I expected, but it's my last one)
Name: Jonas Honolei
Age: 18
Appearance:
Personality: Jonas is curious and open-minded, but not gullible. He will listen to anything you tell him without judgment, but wants proof before he'll believe you. He is kind and honest, but will take a secret to the grave - unless its better for the truth to be told. He's a bit of a joker, but sometimes he doesn't think his words through and people get hurt. He's also incredibly stubborn.
History: Jonas has lived his whole life in a tiny beach town. Having just graduated high school, he has no idea what he wants to do in live and is content to make a small income by fishing and selling his catches to the local fish shop. He lives in a little 2-room shack by the beach, which is about to fall down but it just big enough for him and his dog, 4-year-old Nixon. His best friend is his cousin Reed Payne, despite the 6-year age gap. Maybe in a couple of years he'll move to the city and actually do something with his life, but for now he's fine with simplicity.

Name: Morgan Onecia (oh-nesh-a)
Age: 21
Appearance:
Personality: Morgan is shy and cautious, the type of person who always reads the instructions before beginning something. She has never broken a rule in her life, despite often being pressured by her best friend, Avalon. Morgan is also quite the mother hen. She is very anxious and protective, though this is all due to her compassionate nature. She's also rather naive, making her the last one in the room to understand the joke. She's clueless when it comes to sarcasm and figurative language.
History: Morgan has spent her whole life exploring the oceans with Avalon. She doesn't really like being home, because of her mother's strict and suffocating nature. Her dad is... well, somewhere. Exploring deep dark seas or dead, as Morgan understands it. Her mother doesn't talk about him much, and Morgan hasn't seen him since she was a teenager. She's lived an average life, exploring with Avalon, but she's okay with that. She's never understood Ava's fascination with the surface...

(Thank you! I tried to make a bit of a contrast between them, seeing as Morgan doesn't like Avalon going to the surface)
(Okay, cool. So now I guess it's my turn)
(Computer is broken again... promise I'll reply when I get it back. I hate writing on my ipod, the keyboard sucks)
(All good!)
Before the sun had risen, the water still dark with night, Jonas dragged his little dinghy out to the water, making sure to grab his rod and bucket on the way. Once he was ready to go, he whistled through his teeth. "Nixon! Nix. Here boy, let's go!"
He grinned when the dog came barreling out of the little house, sand already in his fur. At the last possible second, he sprang into the boat, narrowly avoiding crashing into the dinghy.
"That was a close one, Nix. You coulda cracked your head going at that speed," Jonas commented to his canine companion, pushing the boat completely into the water. When it was off the sand, he waded through the water and pushed himself into the boat.
"It's a hot one, Nix. Lucky I bought sunscreen. You might wanna hop into the water later, or you'll get heatstroke."
Some people might have thought Jonas crazy for talking to his dog like he was a real person, but Jonas had owned Nixon since he was a tiny puppy, and considered the dog his best friend.
He was fishing for himself today, checking crab pots and catching dinner for the next few days. He'd go to the deep spots on the weekend, when it was better weather. For now, though, he didn't need the money.

After a little while she sighed and opened her eyes, lowering herself slightly so that she was no longer floating on her back. She was getting ready to head back underwater when she noticed a small boat in the distance.
"I wonder," she murmured to herself, a small smile playing on her lips. She bit her lip as she thought things over, slowly and unconsciously moving closer to it. She knew that going closer to the boat was a dangerous move, and she risked getting caught. On the other hand, she had always wondered what a human was like.
"Maybe just a little closer," she murmured to herself, slowly drifting closer.
(No internet! Well, except for me sneaking onto my mums computer. I don't have time to right now, but I will reply really soon, promise. Sorry!)
Jonas rowed out to his favourite spot. It wasn't too far out, but not really close to the mainland either, which he liked. Nixon was splayed out on the bottom of the dinghy, letting the early morning sun warm his belly.
"Stay quiet, Nix, or you'll disturb the fish," Jonas warned under his breath, hooking some bait and a sinker onto his line. It was a calm day, not too rough, and Jonas got himself comfortable once he'd casted. Maybe he'd see a few turtles....
He jerked awake a couple of minutes later by a tug on the line. Shooting upright, he reeled furiously, cursing under his breath. He never fell asleep on the boat, without an anchor it would have been too easy to drift out of the bay and into more dangerous water.
Nixon lifted his head at Jonas's sudden movement and whined softly.
"Yeah, Nix, I know. I'm an idiot." Jonas muttered, letting his line go limp. The fish had swum off, he could see the silvery flash through the water. "God dammit ."

She couldn't help but laugh lightly at the sight of the sleeping boy, and she was filled with an extreme sense of both excitement and fear. This was the first time she had ever seen a human. Suddenly she saw him shoot upright, and she ducked under the surface with more speed than she would have thought possible. Her heart was beating unbelievably fast and she was terrified, having almost gotten caught.
She could feel adrenaline surge through her, although she didn't know what it was, and she was struck by the overwhelming urge to move closer despite the danger. Without even realizing it she found herself doing so, still moving under the surface.
