Max | 2 comments Please merge these books:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

In the last one there is one number missing for the ISBN.

Thanks

Nathan Sudds (nathansudds) | 14 comments These two are the same book --- James Altucher wrote the forward, and Claudia Altucher wrote the book. It's listed under each of their profiles as a different book.

Philip (burnnerman) | 5912 comments #469 - Done

#470 - Done. Those were different covers, so they do not get merged, but I removed the bad ISBN and marked it as an ACE, they were already combined, so nothing else was needed.

message 463: by Philip (new)

Philip (burnnerman) | 5912 comments #471 - Made sure they were both on each book, and then combined.

message 464: by Piotr (new)

Piotr | 235 comments Why #464 haven't been combined? How can I prove they are the same books? Send the scans or...?

message 465: by lethe (new)

lethe | 16359 comments #482 Sorry Piotr, I had taken a look, but since I don't know either Polish or Arabic I had left them for someone else to sort out. The Arabic record needs the name in Roman spelling, but I'm hoping someone who knows Arabic will handle it.

message 466: by Piotr (new)

Piotr | 235 comments The latinized name is "Maqamat Badi' al-Zaman al-Hamadhani"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maqamat_... - in links there are Arabic and English versions (no Polish version online unfortunately, so to prove it I'd have to scan several pages ;) )

message 467: by lethe (new)

lethe | 16359 comments Sorry, slight misunderstanding there. The author name needs to be added in Roman spelling.

Except that as was noted by another librarian above, since there are clearly editions in languages other than Arabic (such as Polish), all editions should have the author name in English (or the usual transliteration) listed as the first author.

message 476: by free (new)

free (frdn) | 5200 comments #493 add Badi' al-Zamān al-Hamadāni as first author in all edition... there is also an edition in English...

Lenore (xlenorex) | 9 comments Can you please check this and combine/fix accordingly?

This is the correct entry with the correct author details -> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

This is a duplicate, attributed to another author with the same name -> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Similarly,
This is the correct entry -> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
and needs to be combined with this one, which has been attributed to the author's namesake again -> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Many thanks.

Thank you for addressing this so promptly

message 497: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 31441 comments They should be combined and you as the author can dictate which cover is shown as the default. We never delete old covers, people like to have the edition they read on their shelves.

At the top of the Librarian Group there is a thread marked AUTHOR FAQ: Authors look here first! It tells you how to do lots of useful things.

To change the default edition of your book:

Goodreads Authors can now choose which edition they want to be the default edition for their books. Goodreads Authors (and Goodreads Employees) are the only people who can use this feature, and they can only do so for books on which they are the primary author.

To use this feature, go to the edition you wish to set as the default, and click the "edit" link. On the edition's edit page there will be a link on the right side, about mid-way down the page and just before the link to refresh stats, to "Set this book as the primary edition for this work".
