Amanda | 4 comments So I just remembered reading this book, I read it in the early 2000s. I believe it was possibly a trilogy. It was set in a post apocalyptic world about this group of kids but there are no adults. (view spoiler)

I think the boy and girl were with a group of other kids. I know at one point they met senior citizens in one of the books but they don't stick around for long. And in the third or second book another group of kids who they have altercations with and who possibly know what happened to the world. (view spoiler) They also travel around, and it's possibly set in the United States. It might've been intended for young adults.

Thanks if anyone can help. I know it isn't the series Gone because I read it before that series came out and there aren't any special powers, if that helps at all.

No adults seems to be a popular theme. :)

The Fire-us trilogy by Jennifer Armstrong?

"It is the year 2007. The world has been wiped out by a deadly plague that killed all the adults." In the second book The Keepers of the Flame, "To their shock, they've found a group of adults, the only Grown-ups they've seen for years, living in an abandoned shopping mall."

Yes, that's a common theme, starting with Star Trek and I think the episode was "Cry of the Only's", but not totally positive.

Ann, perhaps you're thinking of the Star Trek episode "Miri" where all the adults have died from a plague. Rather creepy as I recall...especially now that I identify with fast-aging-soon-to-be-dead adults rather than the children.

Mir | 802 comments I don't remember much travel but Outside has the post apocalyptic world with all kids. The MC is a little girl with an older brother.

Great! Glad we could help, Amanda. :)

Michele | 2488 comments If you enjoy books with that theme, you might also like The Girl Who Owned a City.

That sounds interesting, and reminds me a little bit of the song "Castle on a Cloud" from Les Miserables. Thanks for the recommendation.
