Is your library multiple floors? Do you have a disabled kid lift? I bet you could use that in a horrific way. Use copious amounts of scotch tape to secure, the would be babbler, to the bookshelf nearest the lift. Then stretch and repeat... or I suppose you could just knock them out with a really bad heavy book, and crush them with the lift when they wake.
