So today is my tenth anniversary...ten years since I finally dragged my hubby down the aisle, twenty years since we've been together. Well our actual 20th anniversary date is the 9th, but he always got it wrong, and always on the same date, the 14th. Which is why we decided to get married on that date. Now he has no excuse to forget out anniversary! LOL

RF, I'm just anal about series. I want to get all the books and read them one after the other. Probably because my memory is not that good. If I read one and then pick up the next a while later, I usually end up rereading the first so that I have a clue as to what is going on. lol

Good luck with your flash cards...that sounds like a fun activity.

Hey Noreen. It was fun AND nerve wracking, trying to keep eleven kids focused. Not an easy task! LOL. The kids were particularly rambunctious today. I could never be a teacher!!

EB, Yes...remember when Broc just went on and on about the dog to Page? Oh, yeah...I cried like a baby over Marley and Me!

On Bended Knee is the third book. The next one is Lion Heart and is about Broc. Then the 5th book is Highland Song. That one is shorter, listed at 112 pages. Weird that it was listed as the 5th and last of this series but also as the 1st of the Guardians of Stone, at the end of the books. So I looked and this is what it says on the Guardians of the Stone:
"Rich with history and lore, HIGHLAND FIRE brings back favorite characters from The Highland Brides and introduces you to new ones." I have the first book but the second isn't out yet. I'm loving this series! :)

So it's still going to connect. Did Broc marry then or still bachelor? Broc was so foolish over that dog. It kind of breaks my heart for his loss. I am not getting this sentimental over fictional characters. LOL!

EB, Yes, The H in the first Guardians of Stone is the brother of the h in the 2nd book of Highland Brides. LOL There is also a novella for the Guardians of Stone. I checked and already have it. :)

Broc is still single but I think the Lion Heart will take care of that. It does sound similar to McKinnon's Bride because he is supposed to end up with a captive and fall for her.

Sad movies..."Pay it Forward" always makes me cry and I keep watching the damn thing! Beaches was a tear fest too. I haven't seen The Fault in Our Stars, will have to check it out.

Ya, Noreen. I thought the same thing when I read the blurb for Broc's story. It sounds almost a repeat of MacKinnon's. It will be interesting to see what/if anything the author does to make it distinct. Can't wait for your thoughts!

Thankfully, the class is only an hour long, once a week. Even then, yesterday I did feel like I wanted to go sit in the corner and suck my thumb! LOL I'm gonna have to get a bit mean next week and set them straight. I'm NOT having another week like I did this one. They were little monsters. Too much fun! They are gonna learn, with or without fun, it's totally up to them! I'll probably end up in a psych ward. ROTFL

My niece read the book for The Fault In Our Stars and said, of course what we all know, that the movie paled in comparison. I couldn't read it though because it would tear your heart out. I just know it. My Sisters Keeper was another emotional trip I took.

So you're reading TWO books? LOL I'm actually almost as bad. I started HEALING A HIGHLANDER'S HEART and switched to this one because I couldn't resist its siren call. LOL

BTW I'm gonna complain about HEALING. First page I got upset. I don't like the fact that Brenna was kidnapped from her home. How about they are making MY Alex look like he can't protect his family!!! There is no way ANYONE could get past Alex's forces to get to his family. Not MY Alex. See what happens when I read a sequel too close to the first...I'm so attached I get ticked off if there is any slight against the protagonists of the previous book. ROTFL

Actually, it got off to a nice start and the chemistry between Brenna and the H is immediate. I like that. I don't like that he has a son. I prefer my h's to produce the heir to a title, but I've read lots of books where the H has a son, so I'm not complaining, just commenting on my preference. LOL Anyhow, TTYL!

Wasn't it so sad about his children though. Poor little dears. You sound awful possessive over Alex. LOL! Twice you brought up your Alex. ROTFL! I remember I was upset that they took her from the keep and I read this book before the first one. I love healing highlanders. Hannah Howell always seems to write about healing clans and I was trying to rekindle the magic. LOL The sick kids though was so sad. I actually had had abdominal surgery around then and I was on a restrictive diet. LOL I was introducing one thing at a time into my diet to see how my body could tolerate it so this book was strangely personal to me. Irony at its best, The poor daughter who kept trying to sneak food I could totally relate. LMBO

AAWWW I love when I make that connection. Let's my latest obsession is TJ. He is the H in Starter Wife. He saved our h's daughter from being ran over. I cheated, pulled an RF, and flipped to the end. It's not clear now but********SPOILER***********
the dudes a fireman. There is something about his character I just adore. He has a dog named C4 minus the fleas. LOL! The h has 3 kids and is going through a nasty custody battle I think that too is not clear if it's an unfinished divorce that is ging on. She's referring to piles of paperwork and spending hours upon hours on the phone with lawyers and never getting sleep. Her kids are so true to life because as soon as the h gets on the phone her son is poking her shoulder and repeating mom 20 times. LOL! I am really enjoying the book because I can totally picture this happening. Moriah Densley writes in a way I totally love. Her last book although short described scenes that pulled me in and I felt like I was right there in the scene. I love that.

********SPOILER ALERT*******

Finally had a chance to finish and left a quick review on here. Thought I would fill you in on the details though. ;)

Things I liked: Broc kidnaps the girl. lol And she has a dog! :) Broc is not quite the shy guy with a woman that I expected. lol The way the H opens his heart and gives everything to the h. The scene where her dress is tucked in her girdle and she doesn't know it. Bare ass and Broc walking behind her. roflmao

Things I didn't like: Too many sex/kissing scenes. Explicit sex was a little much at times...not prudish here but it felt out of place for me. I know I'm getting bored with too much sex and too little plot when I switch over and play a game of Scrabble on my Kindle. lol The word pate being used with "on her head" after it. lol

I gave it 3 stars because it just wasn't as good as the others. I'm still glad I read it because it fills in Broc's history and some other details about other characters. There were many areas that I really enjoyed and got involved in.

I hate that when the series is not as good as the others. I think the second book you said was slow and so I thought maybe I'd skip to this one I don't want to see his dog die. :( The bare ass h sounds funny though. Love that.

LOL! Well I wrote to Amazon about The Valkyrie's Guardian and they told me that it was the author who sometimes puts restrictions on their titles. They are going to write to the publishing house and see if they can put it on Amazon. It usually takes 6-7 days and they'll get back in touch with me. Can you believe this I don't even know what the price will be, didn't think to ask, and if it's too much it will be for nothing. Like you I am upset with Densley's last book but still want to read another by her. I think she's going to be like Kleypas for me and I'll only like her period and Highland books. I think maybe that's my problem too many modern things didn't allow me to fully escape into the book. Who knows. LOL

Thanks for the update, Noreen. Unfortunately, it is rare that you read a series where all the books are equally good. So often, as the series progresses, the books get less and less compelling. I'm finishing up Healing a Highlander's Heart right now. It's the second in the series, and I read book one. I read at least two other books in between books one and two, and still I'm so in love with the H from the first book that he's stealing the show in the second book. LOL I'm gonna wait a good long while before I read book 3!

I'm not surprised that Brock's story wasn't as good though. I had a feeling just from reading the book blurb that it might have some problems. First of all, it sounded way too familiar to book one...that was a bad sign right off the bat. LOL

Anyhow, I've gotta get back to my reading. I'm almost done with HEALING and my loan ends today. Whether or not I'm done it's gonna get dragged outta my cloud. How pissed will I be if I don't finish it? I borrowed it from EB, so if that happens I'll have to ask her to type out the last few pages of the story in an email and send it to me--she wont wanna have to do that!! ROTFL

BTW, I posted a freebie list on Amazon Freebie discussion board this morning. Check it out, if you haven't already!

Believe me I completely understand the feeling of being compelled to do something in a particular manner. It's like me being unable to not finish a book once I've started it...no matter how bad! Noreen, an Amazon GC is always a must have on my birthday and Christmas lists. LOL. As a matter if fact, I have an Amazon visa where we earn points for using it every month. I know what you mean. Men! Gotta hit them over the head with a skillet to get them to really HEAR what you're saying. ROTFL. Yes, we use the Amazon visa for certain monthly purchases. My husband drives a lot for work, so gas is a major purchase for us each month, as you can imagine...on average anywhere from five to six hundred, sometimes more, a month. All those dollars get converted into a lovely Amazon GC each month. It works with my Discover Card too, but I don't use that one. I try to limit my spending to one card so I can keep track and pay it off every month. Also, when you use your Amazon visa to make purchases on Amazon you get triple points!
