Fine! They were to arrive at 11 this morning, but I had to take the kids to the dentist. Then the time got switched to 1:30-2 p.m. Long story short, I stayed home with the kids and left my husband to deal with them. They are here now getting ready for the party they are to attend. I'm upstairs folding clothes. LOL My husband got very annoyed about the whole thing, especially when the time got switched. When he gets annoyed, I calm down. Weird how that happens. I guess we can't both be annoyed at the same time.

Kate, are you done with NEVER SEDUCE yet? EB, did you see Kate said she stayed up until 3:30 a.m. reading that book? It's awesome! You better get you some of that Graeme stuff--he's the H. ROTFL

BTW Kate, I checked into Live-Brary. I think it's only for NY residents, which makes sense. My best friend lives there so I think I'm gonna hit her up to get a card I can use. I don't think she's much of a reader.

BTW Kate, in investigating that author you told me about, Margot Maguire, I discovered that I've actually read something by her before--it's a little short story. It's super short, but I remember it being very cute. Here's the link in case you're interested. It's a freebie!

http://www.amazon.com/Brash-Margo-Mag...

My library didn't have the book you read by her--I forget the name now--but, I did borrow Knight of Desire. It looks like a promising read! I remember the book you read by her now, TAKEN BY THE LAIRD.

Always remember when dealing with in laws. They won't live forever. Got me through many a visit.

I finished Never Seduce. Did the review. I can see why you would read it twice. Loved the couple. I'm at the halfway mark on Angel of Sky. I'm a little disappointed. So far I liked Borrowed Dreams much better. Hoping it picks up a little.

Sorry about live brary. I assumed it was national.

No worries, Kate! I think I can bamboozle my friend into getting a library card. LOL Even if I don't God knows I have enough books to read. Sorry you're not enjoying ANGEL so much, it was a little on the busy side. There's a lot of intrigue. Where'd you get to? DREAMER is much better.

Thanks for the tip about in-laws. LMAO They are actually very nice, but can be extremely annoying--even my husband thinks so and they are his parents! I ran outta here after church this morning with my daughter. We went shopping. My husband said I was abandoning him--I agreed, without remorse!

I should check since I'm closer to New York if it works for me. I don't have time now because I'm going over to help a friend with her school homework. She's learning Excel so this should be fun. I haven't had time to check into Maya Banks but I did snag the books that were listed today including 7 Wicked Nights and Scandalous Brides so I'm good for now. Thanks

Kate~ LOL this is irony but I am reading The Wedding Bed and I just had to tell you. *****SPOILER*****
The couple are on a bed of pillows in front of the hearth and the h is shy (I'll say) she touches him everywhere except on John Henry. LMAO So he grabs her hand and says, " Feel how I want you, jaanu (sweetheart)."

Oh no he didn't! ROTFLMAO! Two books in a row I've had to endure the same moves. I also get tired of reading the old description of iron encased in velvet. The couple have lived in India which has made them crave the exotic flavors in things.

Well it sounds like it might be a very hot story in the sex department, but how's the romance? Does it get lost in the sex? I hate when that happens--unless I'm in the mood for straight erotica, in which case I only read the really short ones. A full-length erotic novel can be a bit much. That certainly was the case with 50 SOG--although I am once again forced to admit I didn't read any of those books cover to cover.

*********SPOILERS***********
I really like the energy the two give out they do have their cute moments like the H faults the h for not being more reserved. The h tells him he should have married a better woman and he says but then I wouldn't have you. Now you have to know that earlier in the book a similar discussion took place only reversed and he had said you should have married a different man and her response was but than I wouldn't have you. That to me was so sweet but it's the length the author has to rush things and i's hard to judge. It's not straight up erotic like the link you sent me. I haven't finished it but will say that the sex is not anymore detailed than your standard romance. The h isn't as reserved but it's because she follows India's standards and beliefs more so than England's and she has always been more aggressive. She comes from a larger family of girls and they're all named after flowers. LOL! I think you may like it RF. I had read somewhere it was erotic but I don't think it should be labeled so.

Ah well, that's often the drawback with a novella-length book. So often the story suffers in lack of detail. I usually lower my expectations when reading them, otherwise I'd have a hard time really enjoying them. Every once in a while I am pleasantly surprised, though. Thanks for the input! Hope you have a wonderful Columbus Day!

I am just about done and the book does get steamier. The couple do get more erotic so I would caution anyone who is bothered by this to be prepared or choose another book as this one may be a disappointment to them. I am really beginning to enjoy them because now they are beginning to reminisce over childhood memories and it has deepened the relationship another layer. I am more certain now if the book was full length it would deliver all the different flavors I savor.

I don't know if anyone picked up The Wedding Bed when it was free but now the price just shot up to 3.99 and it's less than 200 pages. I posted my review and something I didn't put in there was that it is not worth the price she's asking. Also has anyone else posted a review on Amazon lately? They now have a link where you can add a photo in the review. How's that going to work I wonder. :)

A picture? Awesome! That's probably more for products than books. I've posted pictures before, but there was never a way to link the pics to the review. I should go back and see if I can do that now! $3.99 for a novella is pretty steep. Shoot I wouldn't pay $2.99 for one and that seems to be the standard price for a lot of them.

Re: the big grope: I've read it in several books and as you know I think it lacks finesse. Makes you wonder who the hell these writers are dating. However I would think it's a different thing in the wedding bed where it's bound to come up. No pun intended.

Elizabeth Re Iron encased in velvet. One writer you gave me. I can't remember who--described it as blue veined with a purple head. Yikes. If I had read that description at 16 I'd still be a virgin.

I used to have facebook but I don't anymore.

I don't even like to pay over 99 cents for a novella. though two of the best movies ever were taken from short stories. The Birds and Witness for the Prosecution. Before your time I'm sure.

Now, now, Kate! Don't go assuming none of us have seen any of those movies. I, for one, have seen WITNESS. I grew up in Jamaica. We had a black and white television until I was in my early teens. The country had one television station at the time, which signed off at night and didn't sign back on until 5:30 in the evenings. Yes they STOPPED airing overnight!

You watched whatever the heck they were showing, or you didn't watch anything at all! Those were you choices. On the weekends television programs started some time in the morning and went throughout the day. Sunday afternoons there was always a movie on--mostly some western with cowboys and Indians! LOL

I grew up watching Audie Murphy and John Wayne. I had a HUGE crush on Audie Murphy as a kid. When I came to the states and started talking about Audie Murphy to my friends, they thought I was talking about Eddie Murphy (the comedian). LOL

I'm with you on the blue-veined description--I too would still be a virgin! ROTFL!

I hear you about the budget, Kate. I rarely buy books. Between the library and the tons of freebies I've been lucky enough to snag, I have more than enough to read. Every once in with while I will buy a book, but usually only if it's on sale. When I see a book I want I add it to my kindle wishlist and wait until the price goes down. The wishlist keeps track of the cost of the book when you add it, so if the price goes down it tells u the new price, the price it was when you added it to the wishlist, and the percentage you're saving. I can't tell you how many books I've gotten for free that way. I tell my husband, it's almost better than sex when I see one of my wishlist books with the, $0.00 price tag and the, you save 100%! What a rush! I know, I know, I need a life. Sigh

Anyhow, it's almost eleven and I'm tired as heck. Had a pretty busy day today. It's up early and back to reality tomorrow. Yuck! BTW, EB I got derailed reading HEALING, but I'm determined to get back to it by Wednesday--I'm teaching tomorrow evening and have yet to finish preparing for class. I'm flying to Florida on Thursday for one of my best friend's wedding. I'm going alone, so I'll have plenty of time to read, between the wait at the airport and the flight. Yay!

Tick lady. LOL. That's hysterical.

Witness for the Prosecution was even before my time. I was born in 47 and I imagine it was made about that time. Starred Tyrone Power and Marlena Dietrich. I know it was from a short story. I'm pretty sure it was by Agatha Christie. Your friend was spot on about Hitchcock and King. Hitchcock's stuff would seem pretty tame by today's standard. I don't remember who wrote The Bird's.

Noreen Kellner | 190 comments Trying to catch up on here. Way to busy lately and don't seem to have the computer time I used to.
My sister lives in our in-law apartment and is trying to pack up and move for next month. She is a hoarder so it is a major headache. Thankfully she doesn't hoard trash/garbage. No bugs or anything, just dust and stuff everywhere.

RF, yes...that book on games with kids was with you in mind. lol

EB, Tick Lady! ROFLMAO

Kate, I love a lot of the old movies and westerns. Was born in 58 but Desk Set is one of my favorite movies. I had nightmares after watching The Birds.

You guys crack me up about the "old days". I remember going to my neighbors when I was about 7 or 8 to watch the Wizard of Oz. She had a color TV. We had a black and white. When I was little I swore that I was going to marry John Wayne when I grew up. Then I decided I was going to marry Clint Walker. lol

I'm almost done with "On Bended Knee"...will try and get a review posted soon. I won't be giving it 5 stars though. Good plot but slow at times.

I'll try and give you a spoiler tomorrow. ;)

Hi Noreen, glad you're back! A hoarder! My MIL is a bit like that too. OMG! The woman never wants to throw anything out! It's hard for someone like me, who HATES clutter. I may have mentioned before that I live in my in law's beach cottage--you can imagine my pain! LOL

My philosophy is, if you don't use it, get rid of it! You can always donate. There are so many unfortunates out there who rely on charity, why hoard something you're not using? Give it to someone who could really use it. My sister in law told her mother that when she dies, she (my sis in law) is going to rent one of those big dumpsters and toss all her mom's stuff out! ROTFL Yes, it was a joke. They are always teasing my MIL about the fact that she can't throw out anything!!

'58 Noreen? You're exactly ten years my senior. I was born in good 'ole '68. Having grown up in Jamaica; however, I might as well have been born in '48. LOL

They are nothing compared today's horror. The Fly is a perfect example. OK ladies, two comments. One, I'm gonna copy and paste the freebie list onto the Amazon Freebie discussion board, because once again I posted it in the wrong discussion. This is strictly for my record keeping purposes. You, of course, can access it from wherever you want. I'm gonna leave it here and copy it to the other discussion as well.

Second, here is a link to an Amazon local deal. It's a free coupon which will allow you to buy select books at the sweet price of $1.99. I checked and there are at least two regency romance novels listed, both of which I have, but have not as yet read; Faith and Charity. These are books 2 and 3 respectively of a four book series about sisters who find love. I have the first three books, but when I was reading reviews I noticed that readers who have been following the series were clamoring for Mercy's story (she is the youngest sister.)

I started reading book one and within the first couple of pages we meet the H, his best friend who is a duke, and the youngest sister, Mercy. OMG! The connection between thirteen year old Mercy and the duke was instant. He felt immediately protective towards the young girl, although he had no idea why. I could see exactly why readers were clamoring for their story. I stopped reading the blasted book right then and there because Mercy and the Duke's story hadn't been written as yet, and I didn't want to get stuck waiting for it.

Mercy's three older sisters all end up marrying friends of the Duke, so presumably, he and Mercy are present throughout all three earlier books. Anyhow, now I see it has been released--yay!--although at $4.99 I'm gonna have to wait for a sale price (I'm just cheap like that! LOL)

Oh sorry, I got distracted...here's the local deal link. LOL BTW Kate, those titles I mentioned are available in KU.

I feel for you, RF. At one point early in our marriage we had Dave's parents living with us. They were actually easy to get along with but ALL the kids starting using our place to visit with them. (Insert loud scream here). lol

Some part of the brain doesn't click on and you cannot make them see that there is a problem. My sister and I have fought over it on occasion. She doesn't see why I get angry if I have to climb over a couch to get to the breaker panel in her place. Or why it is such a big deal that you can't get within 4 feet of the front door. I've asked her who she is saving all this stuff for because I sure as hell don't want it. lol

LOL at the 10 year age difference. My husband was born in 49.

Thanks again for the freebie list!!

Noreen Kellner | 190 comments Okay...I'm going to give you a *Spoiler Alert* review on the third book, On Bended Knee. If I have time later today, I will actually do a real review. lol

I will probably give this 4 stars. The story line is good but rather dragged out. Lots of yearning and descriptive kisses. The H and h take the entire book to actually get together...sex on the wedding night. lol Fitzsimmons shows up in this one and is even nastier. The book picks up speed toward the end and Fitsimmons and his men are captured but we don't learn what happens to them. Fitzsimmons kills Merry, Broc's dog! I hate that! I think it is setting it up so that Broc will be the one to kill Fitzsimmons in the end. There is a lot going on in this one, once you get past the slow parts. And I do love how all the characters are intertwined from each successive book. It's as basically 3 clans that are intermarrying and you are getting to know people from each through the marriages. Looking forward to the fourth book! Oh, yeah...the H is a womanizer and is totally unprepared for actually falling in love. The h was a difficult birth and ended up having her leg broken during the birth. Her father was a drunk and her mother died at her birth. So she is very strong and independent but doesn't have faith in her own worth. I think the slowness of the courtship was good, but got a little bored with the kissing and or almost going to kiss scenes. lol

EB, I love series. I don't mind when a book leads you into the next one, but I dislike ones that don't stand alone and you really have to read the others. All of these books can stand alone...Tanya did a marvelous job on that. :)

Thanks, Noreen! Great input. Yes, I agree with you. I like series novels...the only problem is that too often the author starts out strong with a really good first book, but then cannot follow through at the same level with the following books...each successive book gets worse. That being said, I've read a few series over the years that I've absolutely loved! The most recent was Brisbin's KNIGHTS OF BRITANNY. I actually liked the first book the least--it was really good, but the heroine was the most timid, although she was by no means a doormat. However, I prefer a feisty heroine, and the h of book 2 was the strongest, IMO.

In more recent years I find myself enjoying a series better if I take a break between the books. It wasn't always that way. I remember devouring all of Julia Quinn's BRIDGERTON series, back to back. LOL Quinn was an all time favorite back in the day. Anyhow, TTYL. I'm preparing for my CCD class. We are going to make commandment flash cards today. I'm very proud of my little activity. LOL

N~ No not the dog, really. I remember in the first one how the dog leaped up at Flea guy. That just stinks. I hate when beloved pets are killed or die in stories. I saw Marley and Me and I was crying looked up and Josh left the room choked up and Kenny he had watery eyes. In RF's words we were a mess. LMAO! Bended Knee was the Broc's story or is that the next one and it is setting it up?

EB, I think Broc's story is the next one--fourth and last. BTW you got the confirmation from Naughty Girls, right? So did I. Can't wait for the first book! I"m heading to CCD in a bit. TTYL

Elizabeth Bennet (janetspringer) | 1740 comments Yes they said they would be sending me a book soon that falls in with my interests. It's too bad that they don't pay it could be even more interesting but the opportunity alone is really exciting.
