Strange Weather in Tokyo was long listed for the IFFP and I chose it because I like to read more books from Japanese authors. Hiromi Karakawi was not known to me so far. She was born in Japan in 1958 and has first submitted her stories to science fiction magazines. She is known for an off-beat style and topics around modern women in Japan. Karakawi has won several prestigious literary prizes like Pascal Short Story Award for New Writers and the Man Asian Literary Prize. I hope you enjoy this group read.

Ah, I thought its another book of short stories but it is not. Interesting relationship Tsukiko has with her old teacher. I wonder if it ends in an romance or not.... :-)
