The Complete Sherlock Holmes
question
Sherlock and Sherlock Holmes

I see book covers with Cumberbatch and BBC TV Watson on them , but they have Doyle's classic stories inside. What do you think of someone British writing Holmes in modern times based on the BBC stories?

That seems very strange... I haven't seen those particular covers (and they don't really incite anger in me) but it does seem like a very weird decision. They're two very different things despite Sherlock being based on Doyle's Sherlock Holmes.
It sells books, I suppose. There are a lot of people who have seen the television series but never read the books. This is a way to draw them in.
Never mind the logic, here's a kerching.

I agree, Will. My favorite modernizations are the Schlock Homes parodies by Robert L. Fish. I've been tempted as well, but it would take time to do it

I think those are fine if it gets people to read although, it's sort of false advertising. I would be interested to read a modern day Sherlock.
