I do try.
Occasionally.
When I'm feeling generous.
I didn't like that he died. Then again I never like it when someone dies.
Don't get me wrong, Octavian was stupid and I hated him, but I still don't think he deserved to die.
~Mi~ wrote: "I didn't like the fact that they thanked Octavian for a "noble" sacrifice. I'm glad he's gone though!!"Exactly. I didn't think he should have been remembered as a hero for attempted manslaughter.
No one ever really deserves to die, even when they have betrayed and everything of that manner. I still don't think Octavian's death was a good thing. I think that he would have been better off alive but in prison. He probably suffered a lot and I feel horrible.
You are forgetting he killed Gwen because he lost at a game. He brainwashed the legions into thinking the whole greek camp, hundreds of people, were evil so they could mass slaughter all the campers. He manipulated everyone for personal gain. He tried to get Reyna executed. You say killing Octavian is wrong but have you looked at all the killing /attempts at killing je has committed?
Do you think he would have learned? Sitting in prison or doing community service has been proved ineffective with correcting murders, expecially serial killers. Octavian is no different. I personally think death for him was the best option. Same with Bryce Lawrence.
Plus, his character was based off and almost perfectly mirrors the real Augustus/Octavian. That Octavian murdered for entertainment and mass slaughtered a bunch of people based on their heritage also. He kept murdering his whole life. Before he died he even married his daughter off to her half-brother, knowing that he hated her. He did nothing when he loked her in a room and starved her to death. My point is, it is completly justified for the fictional Octavian to have died that way.
I literally yelled "Yes! Finally!" When it happened. I really screamed of happiness. I also jump up and down. It was beautiful.
One of the best parts in the entire book
I was mostly just disappointed with the character of Octavian as a whole. He was extremely flat for such an important secondary character. The fact that he met such a predictable end seemed like a shame to me. He was only there for plot development and some slight humor, but he could have been so much more.
that evil mother fucker deserved to die i went hyper for hours on end thinking of how awesome it was i was running around going fucking crazy.
i almost forgot he fucking killed gwen over a fucking game what crazy ass person would do that and the brain washing FUCK HIM!!!!!!!
