He advanced towards the heron, getting ready to attack it. I won't let it attack her...

Celestia had to force herself to not look at what Darkmint was doing. Don't look, don't look, don't look...

The heron heard Celestia's squeak, but it couldn't figure out where it came from. The bird obviously wasn't the brightest. It slowly and quietly started moving around, hoping the sink it's talons into whatever made that sound.

((I don't know what herons do so I have decided this is an evil bird. XD ))

Darkmint quickly looked over the heron; where would be best to avoid and what would be best to take advantage of. When he found his target- which was the bird's neck (he assumed the beak would be too long to actually reach him if it decided to peck)- Darkmint leaped towards it, claws outstretched for the neck.

((I've never role-played a bird before. X) NOT including Birdsong's birds, because they, of course, are similar to Midnight the badger. They understand cat speech. O-o ))

The heron squawked(?) when it heard Darkmint coming after it and the bird jumped out of the way.

Darkmint dove into a few reeds and then scrambled up, turning around again to get his bearings. He got in front of the bush he thought Celestia was in and prepared to defend it.

Celestia tipped her head when she finally turned around to see if anyone was dead yet. She was relived to see Darkmint, she was confused with why he was standing in front of a bush. He's making himself look like and idiot... She was trying to get a better view, but she had stepped not a twig that actually broke under her tiny paws. You idiot... Well, no point in staying in here, now, is there? She wiggled into position and bolted out of the bush.

The heron was about to attack Darkmint, when it was the other cat. He looked back at Darkmint and the bird's eyes were filled with laughter. After that, it followed Celestia.

Celestia froze when she saw the bird coming after her. "Oh, you stupid she-cat..." She meowed to herself and she dodged the bird's first attempt(?) to attack her. Dodge like you've never dodged before! You've had enough practice in the allies(?)...

Darkmint realized his major mistake and mentally scolded himself.

You idiot! How could you leave her undefended?!

No time to beat yourself up about it right now! Do something!

He was filled with rage at himself and the heron for going after Celestia. "Over here, you dumb bird!" Darkmint attempted to get the heron away from Celestia as he tried to catch its attention.

"I don't think it heard you. Either that, or it's ignoring you," Celestia squeaked. "Why don't you just bite the back of its' neck or something?"

The heron heard Darkmint, it just chose to ignore him. It didn't like these two cats, especially the one that was moving around. The other one knew how to fight, which was less annoying then trying to kill a moving target.

He looked towards Celestia. "Sure..." Darkmint muttered, and then raced towards the heron, leaping onto its back successfully.

The heron squawked in surprise when Darkmint jumped on its' back and fell down at the sudden weight.

Darkmint clamped his jaws down on the heron's skinny neck, drawing blood.

Celestia flopped on her side and hid her eyes with her paws before Darkmint bit its' neck, whimpering.

The heron instantly died before it could even make a sound.

He released the heron's neck, a little disgusted from the blood running swiftly down its neck. Darkmint jumped off of it, and saw Celestia cowering. He padded over. "It's okay...the heron's dead now." He said in a gentle tone.

Celestia slowly removed her paws and quickly hugged Darkmint. "Thank you," She murmured. "I'd be dog-food if you hadn't been here,"

Yeah, but I still almost got you killed by being an idiot. "You're welcome." Darkmint murmured.

Celestia looked around nervously and started shivering. "Can we continue heading to your home? I don't feel safe out here at the moment...usually I head back to Brian when something like that happens, but I'm determined to not look weak. I made a promise to myself, and I'm going to keep that promise until I find out if I do belong in a Clan or not,"

He looked at her with a hint of worry in his eyes. "Of course. C'mon." Darkmint rested his tail across her shoulders.

"Thank you," Celesita stood up again, still shivering, yet happy that she lived yet again. "Is it true that you Clan cats eat bones?"

Darkmint scoffed. "Of course not. That's just a silly rumor."

Celestia let out a sigh of relief. "Once I told the others I was going to try joining a Clan, they mentioned Clan cats eating bones. No one ever told me about that 'til right there, and I started to get really worried..."

"None taken," Celestia purred. "They probably wouldn't believe you, anyway. They'd think you're crazy. Just like they think I'm crazy, attempting to join a bunch of heartless rogues,"

He stared at her for a minute, then realized she was talking about the other kittypets' opinions. Oh. "Probably not." He agreed.

"But I don't believe Clan cats are heartless, and certainly not rogues! Those other cats obviously had never been bullied or almost murdered by a rogue before," Celestia meowed, not noticing Darkmint staring at her. "Clan cats are misunderstood,"

Darkmint nodded. "You're right." He agreed again.
