Completed "Dreaming of Flight" by Catherine Ryan Hyde.
A heart-warming book that would work well when you want a soul-satisfying read. 4.5 stars.

I think The Strange Adventures of H, a young girl, by Sarah Burton could be an entertaining introduction to historical fiction about 17th century London. It covers the Plague, the Great Fire, and bawdy houses.
3★ My review of Strange Adventures of H
Great historical fiction! The Book of Last Letters by Kerry Barrett
Letters are presents from the past and preserve its stories. In a dual-linear timeline, Elsie and Harry's and Stevie and Finn's tales overlap. Despite living decades apart, Elsie and Stevie are linked through the pages of the book. Elsie's story gives Stevie the opportunity to commence a new chapter and be open to opportunities.

The Whittiers by Danielle Steel
When readers first meet the Whittiers, they seem like an eccentric but loving family. A tragic turn of events threatens to tear the siblings apart and they must band together to save their home.
Danielle Steel’s books are guilty pleasures filled with family relationships, romance and self-discovery. The author takes readers on a rollercoaster journey where often the protagonists don't know where they are headed. Through the highs and lows, with the support of their family, anything is possible.

Valkyrie's Daughter wasn't the greatest, slow. I had to force myself to read it. 2 stars.Taking an ARC break, only have one on my shelf at this time and it's not out until Oct., so I'm going to read
Under the Whispering Door. I've wanted to read this one for a while. Plus it will count for the Kindle challenge extras.
1. "When the Day Comes" by Gabrielle Meyer -
An outstanding timeslip historical fiction. Loved the author's approach to the story. 4.5 stars.

2. "Monsters in the Mist" by Juliana Brandt -
A middle-grade paranormal horror story with some really dark themes. Well-handled, though a tad rambling. 4.25 stars.

We know him by his stage name Harry Houdini, which means MAGIC! This is another colourful introduction by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara to a little person who realised their Big Dreams. Excellent!
5★ My review of Houdini with several illustrations
I enjoy the Amazon Original Stories, which are quick reads written by well-known authors and give readers a sample of their talent and style. Jeffery Deaver recently contributed Scheme, which has an unexpected (of course) twist at the end.
3★ My review of Scheme
Long Way Home by Lynn Austin
Lynn Austin's historical fiction was one of the most poignant and heartfelt novels, I've read this year. It's rare to feel so strongly about a story and through the protagonists' triumphs and tears, I was swept along with their courage to survive.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY which is celebrated on May 12th, Florence Nightingale's birthday. Born 202 years ago, this most remarkable woman changed nursing around the world. The Lady of the Lamp is still a role model, and I hope this children's book will inspire more kids to go into into nursing.

Completed "Hollow Fires" by Samira Ahmed.
Covers the topic of Islamophobia in the US. Pretty well-written for its target group of YA readers. 4.25 stars from me.

Completed the latest DI Kim Stone story, "Six Graves" by Angela Marsons.
Worked pretty well for me, though I haven't read any other book in this series. 4.25 stars.

"A Tidy Ending" by Joanna Cannon -
This is a well-rated book but I didn't like the story as much as I had expected. The ending was farfetched. So here's my outlier 2-star review.

Ruby Fever by Ilona Andrews is the fantastic finale to Catalina's trilogy. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4270954677
Currently reading The Vagabond King
by Jodie Bond, a republish, so not an ARC, and so far not that great. The last book I read, Under the Whispering Door, that was on my TBR pile was only a 2 star. Disappointed in that one!
I really enjoyed the characters in The Secret World of Connie Starr, Aussie author Robbi Neal's new novel. It begins during the Depression and goes to 1952 in the small country town of Ballarat, Victoria. It's hard to keep secrets in a small town.
4★ My review of The Secret World of Connie Starr
Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Lynn Boylan
I've never started a book review with WOAH before but that's the feeling 'Mad Honey' requires. I was on a high-speed journey to discover the truth and I'm still reeling from the outcome. Without giving anything away, buckle your seatbelt as this adventure will teach you about life.

Doctor Ice Pick sounds like some kind of snake-oil salesman from a couple of centuries ago, but this short non-ficton piece by Claire Prentice explains how recently he and his trainees were poking into brains of disturbed patients. ACK!
3★ My review of Doctor Ice Pick
This novel is now available on NetGalley, don't miss this one, it's a winner :

I think readers who enjoyed Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine are going to enjoy meeting Nita Prose's lovable Molly The Maid. She's a square peg who's much more genuine than most who fit in the round holes of the world.
4★ My review of The Maid
I loved the world/s of the characters in Gabrielle Zevin's latest, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow. In games, you can get a new life, start over - extra tomorrows. In real life, they struggle like the rest of us.
4.5~5★ My review of Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
The Woman in the Library, by one of my favourite Aussie authors, Sulari Gentill, is a wonderfully tricky, multi-layered mystery where I think I suspected almost everyone, real and fictional. A great read!
4.5~5★ My review of The Woman in the Library"
The Lying Dutchman by Graham Brack is the latest entertaining (and informative) adventure of Master Mercurius, a gentle Dutch cleric, coerced into spying in 17th century England. Always entertaining!
4★ My review of The Lying Dutchman
I just finished The Path of Thorns. It ended up being really good and is great if you like witchy/gothic/magic books, but it was really slow at times. I think it could have been cut down.
Wake the Bones by Elizabeth Kilcoyne started off good but flopped. 2 StarsNow for
Stealing Infinity by Alyson Noël. (After reading the blurb, I'm wondering why I requested this one...)
Billie wrote: "(After reading the blurb, I'm wondering why I requested this one...)"This has happened to me so many times! 😂😂
I was surprised to learn I was a bit mistaken about the significance of the actual date, June 19. The Juneteenth Story: Celebrating the End of Slavery in the United States by Alliah L. Agostini set me straight in this well-illustrated book for kids (and ignorant grown-ups like me).

I really need to get a little more strict on the books I request and buy. (I cannot believe some of the books I have on my shelves. What was I thinking!)
I absolutely do not recommend this book. My 2* review at 55% of

I am very fond of Aussie author Emma Viskic's Caleb Zelic, but this is said to be the deaf investigator's last story. (I tweeted to her that Kat and the ancestors will pester her to continue!) Those Who Perish is excellent, and I want more!
4.5~5★ My review of Those Who Perish
Read this super cute book that would be a great gift for any dog lovers in your life.
