Done with "Parting the Veil" by Paulette Kennedy. A debut work that tries too hard to succeed. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Historical fiction fans might enjoy "The German Wife" by Debbie Rix. The title is quite meh but the story is pretty interesting. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Another in the Little People/BIG DREAMS series for children is the stunningly colourful Pablo Picasso by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. The illustrations by Teresa Bellón are outrageously wild - as was the artist himself, of course. Loved it!
5★ Link to my Pablo Picasso review with several of the striking, detailed illustrations
Completed "The Last House on the Street" by Diane Chamberlain. A book with much potential but it doesn't quite come together as a cohesive story. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Complete "The Maid" by Nita Prose. What a delightful book! Heartily recommended. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Completed an interesting historical story about the infamous Magdalen laundries of Ireland. "Stolen from her Mother" by Rachel Wesson. Quite an emotional book, which works well despite some writing flaws. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

4.5~5★ Link to my review of Geographies of the HeartIt's still available on NetGalley.
Completed "A Day Like This" by Kelley McNeil. A mixed bag, but for a debut novel, it is quite a good attempt. 3.5 stars.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finally got to one of my books from last year that I got behind on. The fifth book is about to come out, so I'm trying to get caught up.
The Burning Girls (Detective Ellie Reeves #3) by Rita Herron

I loved Aussie author Christian White's latest novel Wild Place. The local Neighbourhood Watch group gets a little too active during the 1989 Christmas holidays when a teen disappears.

Lost and Found in Paris by Lian Dolan.
A series of meet-cutes, stolen sketches and escapades around France will leave readers armchair traveling along with Joan. Will she find what she's lost in Paris? It was a thrilling read that left me embracing art, culture and Paris' joie de vivre.

Never knew about the turpentine camps of post-depression era US until I read "The Saints of Swallow Hill" by Donna Everhart. An enlightening read, though the character development falls a little short. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A little late on this one, a fantastic start to a historical romance series.
A Reckless Match (Ruthless Rivals #1) by Kate Bateman
My Review - 5 Stars

"The Orphan in the Peacock Shawl" by AnneMarie Brear - A fairly interesting historical fiction but the title and the blurb reveal too much. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
"Sparrow" by Brian Kindall - a pretty good indie middle-grade fiction, though it goes quite dark at times.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finally, a believable psychological thriller! The Younger Wife

Summer Love by Nancy Thayer
Four friends, 3 months, 2 couples and a summer memory that will last a lifetime. Renting the basement rooms of the old hotel, the nicknamed Sand Palace was anything but palatial. A Breakfast Club cast of characters, Ariel was the beauty, Shelia, the loveable loner, Nick, the lady's man and Wyatt, the science geek.
Sharing a space for the summer, the acquaintances became friends. They each have qualities that the others lack. Will their friendship afford strength to look past the present and be able to embrace their futures?

Looking forward to The Next Ship Home by Heather Webb.
Completed "How to Find Your Way Home" by Katy Regan. A slowburn lit fic that focusses on sibling relationships. Will work well for those who like stories revolving around human emotions and interactions.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished Watch Out for Her by Samantha M. BaileyHere are my 5 star comments (Note: I give very few 5 stars!)
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My approval for this one just came in - but I wanted to read it right away. Only 35% in - but really really enjoying it!A lullaby for witches
The Family Chao by Lan Samantha Chang. A modernised rendition of the classic 'The Brothers Karamazov'. I didn't find it working well for the contemporary audience. Plus, this retelling has too many stereotypes. Disappointing.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished this great domestic thriller
