Laura, I don't know you well enough to bare with you. However, I have moved this to Unsolved for you and added a detail to your header because a lot of people don't click on headers that just say "help me find this book."

When did you read this or when was it published? What country does it take place in, what state/city etc.

A guess - The Double Life of Daniel Glick by Maurice Caldera?

Laura, what's the genre - mystery, thriller, romance, etc.?
What type of jobs did he do? Hobbies?
Can you describe his personality, appearance, etc.?
Did he have two wives, wife and mistress, children?

Anyway, I'm new at this and fell upon it trying to figure out the name of this book. My apologies for not putting the right header on or filing it under the correct subject.

Sorry, it was definitely a mystery / thriller. I don't remember what jobs. As I said, very vague description, a big long shot here, hoping someone notices that can take a guess.

Any thoughts on Lobstergirl's questions: "When did you read this or when was it published? What country does it take place in, what state/city etc."

Brittany | 106 comments Sounds like it could possibly be the second or third book in the Circle Series by Ted Dekker.
here are the covers Black The Birth of Evil (The Circle, #1) by Ted Dekker Red The Heroic Rescue (The Circle, #2) by Ted Dekker White The Great Pursuit (The Circle, #3) by Ted Dekker Green The Beginning and the End (The Circle, #0) by Ted Dekker

The main character Thomas lives two lives and lakes feature heavily in the books after the first, there is a part where they drown but do not die and that's what made me think these might be your books.

It's sort of hard for me to explain.. and I know which book I'm talking about. So if one of these is the book you're looking for, I'd say you did a great job describing it.

Could it be a Sherlock Holmes story? There is one The Man With the Crooked Lip?? possibly. Probably not it, but thought I'd throw it out there, since I'm always willing to suggest a story featuring The Great One. :o)
