The story opens with Bautista torturing a drug dealer to death. Who did you think he was at that moment? Did your opinion of him change by the end of the story? If so, how and why?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1247 comments It was a horrific intro and I was captured by his thoughts about how bad this dude was and only killing the really bad guys that killed innocents. I thought he was an enforcer with a conscience and his own moral code. The rest of the book only confirmed that.

Laura | 244 comments I didn’t know who he was at that time, just that he was a bad guy who went after other bad guys. As the story went on I actually liked him and wanted him to get away.

That was my take, also, Anita. I didn’t know what to make of him in this moment but by the end of the book, I was rooting for his soul.

Laura, I wanted him to get away, too.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 751 comments I agree. He really grew on me by the end of the book.

I’m actually surprised at my reaction to him. Kudos to the author for creating a complex character like this.
