The story opens with Bautista torturing a drug dealer to death. Who did you think he was at that moment? Did your opinion of him change by the end of the story? If so, how and why?

[Anita]

It was a horrific intro and I was captured by his thoughts about how bad this dude was and only killing the really bad guys that killed innocents. I thought he was an enforcer with a conscience and his own moral code. The rest of the book only confirmed that.

[Laura]

I didn’t know who he was at that time, just that he was a bad guy who went after other bad guys. As the story went on I actually liked him and wanted him to get away.

[Jonetta]

That was my take, also, Anita. I didn’t know what to make of him in this moment but by the end of the book, I was rooting for his soul.

Laura, I wanted him to get away, too.

I agree. He really grew on me by the end of the book.

I’m actually surprised at my reaction to him. Kudos to the author for creating a complex character like this.
