i really don't get this book and no i have never read it.

It's carefully detailed instructions on the best way to assassinate a bird.

It's a treatise on alcoholism. The name is a takeoff on the name of a famous cockatiel, the "Tequila Mockingbird" (click here for a recipe).
The protagonyist, who's wasted her life away getting drunk and dreaming of a better life outside her small Southern town, finally finds a therapist on the Internet and falls in love with him... Etc... .

It's a mashup of YA dystopia and David Sedaris, skewering the "Hunger Games" series with ironic tidbits about the deep south, fatsuits and really bad assassins and chefs.

It is the prequel to Mockingjay.

Horrible Bird-Human hybrid is created in a mad scientist's lab and wreaks havoc on a small Southern town. The townsfolk gather enough money to hire the world's greatest assassin, Atticus Finch (an ex-soldier) to kill the Bird-Man before it steals anymore corn. The plot revolves around Atticus tracking down the monster, and taking him out once and for all, hence the title.

Spoilers, People! Spoilers!

Obviously if someone hasn't read a book they can't possibly hope to "get it". So for a very frivolous question - I loved (and had a good laugh) at lots of the answers. Perhaps we should vote for our favourite answer!!!!

My vote would go to answer no. 3

You don't get this book? You've never read it? Hilarious!!!
There are many books that I don't get having never read them. I think I can apply that statement to every book I haven't read

If you look at OP's profile you'll see that she likes Christian Romance. TKAM is not her type of book, although it might be in a few years of more maturing.

i heard a lot and I heard its not about a bird. lol

You guys are funny. I'd actually like to read some of these as full books. Let me know if you get published.

It's a book based on the movie with Gregory Peck. The name of the movie however is actually "Godfather 2: A New Beginning".

The animated version features a character called Elmer Fudd hunting a rabbit. The author of the book decided to change it into a mockingbird for some inexplicable reason.

Your comments make me chuckle. It is one of the best literary books of its kind!

It was a small town essay contest to name an alt-country band that got way outta control.

There's this sailor who is like totally broke so he joins this whale fishing ship but it turns out the captain is crazy and just wants to catch this one whale that ate his leg instead of making any money. It's a great book!

This book sounds Great!!!

Fight to the death in the Mayberry. All they have are empty bottles of cherry coke, fishing line and dried corn stalks. Two townspeople are selected at random and go down to a place called "the Courthouse" to display some good old-timey justice. Whoever emerges alive gets to pick the next fighters. And the cycle continues...

Two vampires have a mad romance on board a mile-long spaceships whilst fighting off hordes of zombies using pump action shotguns.

There's a cute kitten, a dragon who can breathe fire, a class of dance students auditioning for a production of Fame, a magical sword in a stone, and a might Greek god with muscly thighs.

It's a comic tragedy about a real life fantasy.

You'll love it.

PS. I couldn't resist blogging about this thread...

I don't think she should read it until she learns about the use of capitals in the English language.

it is about murder, and mercy.

Why not just read it and find out?

It looks at racism in the south

It is a brilliant piece of literature that has myriad themes. A good man does what is right and treats all people with goodness and respect regardless of race, color or creed. Children are raised by their father and learn about the wider values of society and grow through the guidance to emulate what a caring and good person does in the world. There is also the issue of mental health touched on at a time that those who had mental health problems were just wierd, scary, or eccentric. The one thing that the South did bring was tolerance to those mentally ill if they had the decency not to offend anyone. Scout learns the gift of seeing beyond the surface of Boo to the truly beautiful soul that he is. She grows and learns to extend love to others who are not like her through watching her father treat all equally.

"To Kill a Mockingbird is certainly neither dystopian or fantasy but it certainly is a classic literature that talks of many social issues and problems..."

Thank you for enlightening the unenlightened even though some may have just been having improv fun.

Every morning a mockingbird sits on a fence in my yard and gives an operatic performance. A Mockingbird sings and trills out beautiful songs and also has the ability to mimic other bird's songs. I never gave a thought to this book's title. Now, because of "my mockingbird" I now realize to kill a mockingbird would be a senseless inhumane act. It would destroy an innocent creature who gives his glorious songs freely and unconditionally because it is in his nature to do so.
