Tanja Russita | 17 comments Hello everybody!
I just found some ideas I find useful.
About how to make the links in your bookm so the readers can leave the reviews and order other books easily.
Haven't try myself yet, but definitely will.

I tried to do that but Word doesn't accept HTML, or at least I couldn't figure out how to accomplish it within my word program. I read that article a few weeks ago and agree it is a great idea. I have put in links, but unfortunately, not the fancy ones in the article. I would love a step by step article on how to add HTML into your word document.

Tanja Russita | 17 comments Brigitta, I understand you. I managed with hyperlinks on Adobe Acrobat, but not with active buttons or pictures.

Ole Albers (olealbers) | 13 comments I know, this is meant for eBooks, but I used QR-codes in my printed book. Works well

Brigitta, Word can save documents in various kinds of HTML formats. Save it in HTML and then open that doc and add the link.

Ken (kendoyle) | 347 comments Word generates terrible, bloated HTML. If you plan to convert your book to ePub or another format, you're better off learning HTML or using a real HTML editor.

That has been my experience as well. The coding knowledge needed to make a nice clean epub isn't that involved. It's worthwhile taking the time to learn the ropes and get it right.

You can do it all in Notepad++ and it's free!

I never though to that - cool idea!

Gregory Mayflower | 5 comments Speaking of eBooks, Amazon's instructions clearly state that the preferred file format for Kindle uploads is HTML, converted and formatted in MS Word.

Laura | 21 comments 1. Re: MS Word generating bulky HTML. I use Wordpress.org for my author site and it's very handy for generating HTML from word. You just copy and paste in the "Visual" screen, then look at the source code for HTML.

2. If you simply want to generate links in Word, just highlight your text or image and use insert > hyperlink.

Bobbi JG Weiss (goodreadscombobbijgweiss) | 57 comments I'm a total newb as far as book formatting and HTML and all that. After months of pulling my hair out, I found the answer at Smashwords. Use their downloadable Style Guide. It guides you step-by-step, in very simple and easy-to-understand terms, how to format, put in pictures, use HTML, all that. It's wonderful for use not just at Smashwords but anywhere. (BTW, I use Word on a Mac. I've used Word for 20 years and it's a horrible clunky program, but it's the industry standard so I had to use it when I was writing work-for-hire books. But I had no trouble with it when I followed the Smashword Style Guide.)

T.H. Hernandez (thhernandez) I converted my books to ePub and mobi format with Calibre. They look perfect on my iPad and my Kindle Paperwhite (need to check it on Nook Color still). But I emailed these to myself, which is different than uploading to Amazon. Has anyone uploaded a mobi file to Amazon that was converted with Calibre?
