Kay (neenamara) | 71 comments This is my first challenge, so I am also looking at it as a way to set the bar. Also, I'm moving halfway across the country and starting a cosmetology course so I'm not sure how much time and/or energy I'll have for reading. My goal is to finish at least half of the tasks...And even if I don't, it's been so much fun picking the books, it almost doesn't matter!

message 52: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amandag23) My goal is to finish the challenge. If I finish I'm going to reward myself with an early Christmas gift.

Oooh, I love self-bribery. Maybe I should do that too. ;)

message 54: by Ryan Mac (new)

Ryan Mac | 17 comments I have participated in the last two challenges and ended up with around 200 points each time. Finishing the challenge isn't going to happen for me with that other habit of mine (video game addict) but if I can hit 300 points and knock off several items from the TBR list (like Teresa's comment--don't add anything to my TBR list), I'll be pretty happy.

message 55: by Sherrie (new)

Sherrie (syellico) This is my first challenge as well, so I would be really excited if I made it to 200 points. I am trying to stick to books that I own and only borrow a few from the library, mostly audio to listen to on my commute. I am really excited about this and spent some time getting a small plan together today.

message 56: by Sara (last edited Sep 02, 2009 07:22PM) (new)

Sara (hoot31) This is my first challenge, so my goal is to just get a reasonable amount of books read and try to do better on the next challenge. I am just hoping to get use to doing a challenge

message 57: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 78 comments This is my first challenge and looking at it as a personal challenge instead of a race to see if I can be the first to finish. I may not even finish because as the challenge started I have 2 kids sick with the flu. Reading time takes a back seat. I hope to make a serious dent in it, and to set a goal to be surpassed next season.

LOL already failed that one, now hoping that the number is lower than when I start

message 59: by Alice (new)

Alice (aliceg) | 424 comments I haven't yet finished a whole challenge and I don't think I'll finish this one either. I didn't do as well in the summer challenge as I did in the winter challenge so I think this time round I aim to beat my summer challenge score of around 350.

Melissa (macyboston) Tanya wrote: "I'm once again going for a pages read goal. I fell just short of 10,000 pages on the summer challenge (9,543 pages- basically one or two books). So I'm going to try for that number again... "

What an interesting perspective on goal setting. I'm new to the reading challenge, so I would just like to finish it. Never crossed my mind to attain a goal of pages read. Great idea!

message 61: by Caroline (new)

Caroline This is my first challenge and my goal is 300 points. I have 2 kids and I work full-time, so I don't get very much reading time.

I am also only reading books that were already on my TBR list, which makes it more difficult. I also will put down a book if I hate it, which might slow me down. I think it's torture to finish a book that I am not enjoying when I know there are so many out there that I will enjoy.

I just finished my first book!

message 62: by Kainda (new)

Kainda | 1 comments This is also my first challenge, but my goal will only be 100 points. Lately I've been asking a bit to much from myself, so in order to relax a little bit, my goal won't be very high.

message 63: by Christine (new)

Christine Flesch (meornh) | 1 comments I am happy I am reading again! For the longest time I couldn't concentrate well enough to read.

This is my first challenge so I'll read as many as I can and try and beat my score in the winter.

message 64: by Literally (new)

Literally Jen (vampsita) I have two in person book clubs and one online book club. So far, it's looking like a few of those book clubs meet some of the tasks for this challenge.

This is my first challenge, and I'm not sure how many points I should hope to accumulate. My ticker will say 690, but I'm sure that I will finish with less points than that.

I plan on going through the books I already own before ordering new ones or using the library. So far I have been able to work quite a few I've already got into the various challenges.

message 65: by kiki (new)

kiki (keekers) | 815 comments this is my first challenge, and i'm just hoping to finish 10 books or so. then i'll try to better that with the Winter Challenge! :)

message 66: by Linda (new)

Linda My first challenge too. I posted elsewhere that my goal is to finish 10 tasks - a randomly selected number. It never occured to me to use this one as a "set the bar" challenge but that's probably what it will amount to.

message 67: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (goodreadscomkeridwynn) | 185 comments This is my first challenge as well. Since I'll be going back to school in January, I want to make the most of this and have fun reading/listening to books (I tend to enjoy audiobooks more for some reason) that otherwise I might not have picked up based on the types of challenges there are.

Also, since I'm not living back home in Texas, but in Ohio in my dad's estate, I only have a few books I brought with me (before I knew about the challenge), so just trying to do this for almost free and borrowing library books and not spending money is a biiiiig challenge :) I'm going to try for half of the possible points possible, and go for around 345.

So far I have been doing like Sara and juggling the due date times from the library books so they aren't all due back at the same time. I haven't yet gone with ILLs and have stuck with what the libraries in the system have for my choices.
