Trisha | 30284 comments This one is TOUGH! Although I like the Forest of Hands and Teeth series better than I liked Enclave's whole series

I did like Enclave better than Forest- as a first book in the series

My vote is Enclave (Razorland, #1) by Ann Aguirre

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments This is really tough. If the vote was between series, Forest of Hands and Teeth would beat Razorland hands down!!! Although I loved the series, I didn't really enjoy book one of Forest because I disliked almost every character.

As we are just comparing book ones and not the whole series, my vote is for Enclave (Razorland, #1) by Ann Aguirre .

★ℕłℂØℓҾ★ (Nix) (ladyknightnix) | 4549 comments I'm glad you guys are saying that because it was really only the end of The Forest of Hands and Teeth that made me even consider wanting to read the second book. Good to know the first book isn't indicative of how the series as a whole will be!

I loved books two and three. The characters from book one play very little part in them, the zombies are so well thought out and the world building is detailed and so interesting. Plus the characters in books two and three didn't make me want to strangle them. Give them a try, you might love them!!

hahah!! LOL our comments are nearly the same
I totally agree

Book 1 of Forest just...it was frustrating and annoying
but the whole series. WOW, I REALLY loved it!

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments LOL yes sorry, I wasn't copying, you just beat me to it. I have been thinking about what to say on this one for weeks.

LOL! NO, no I totally knew :)
we seem to have similar taste in books AND we've read lots of these together :D

Caroline The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1) by Carrie Ryan

I read this a while back and loved it. While I did not re-read it for the battle I decided it was the winner because I couldn't wait for her next book to come out. I don't really have a desire to read the sequel to Enclave.

Mehsi Just finished Enclave today, and while I also loved Hands and teeth I will be voting for Enclave for this challenge.

Katherine | 2741 comments I vote for The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1) by Carrie Ryan , although I do kind of think it's copying The Village a lot, LOL!!

I didn't vote for Enclave (Razorland, #1) by Ann Aguirre because I'm over dystopian novels.

True, but The Forests of Hands and Teeth felt a little less dystopian than Enclave. I worded it wrong, teehee!!

I confused myself for a bit there!! The Forest of Hands and Teeth almost felt like a historical novel in the way it was written, to me anyway.

message 19: by Jessie (Saffity) (new)

Jessie (Saffity) (saffity) So I just read both of these books for the first time, and have not read the series.

I actually found myself getting mildly bored of all the travelling in Enclave and more interested in the story and the relationships in The Forest of Hands and Feet. The mystery of what happened in Enclave had my interest from the start.

Both the books had fairly similar story arcs for the main characters. Girls who are chafing against the rules of the society that they are now in after the end of the society we know who then are forced to step away from everything they know and find their own path.

However, when I got to the end of both books, I sat back and really thought about it.

As much as I think reading both these series in full may change my opinion, right now the vote comes down which book made me want to pick up the next in the series more.

Which means my vote is: Enclave (Razorland, #1) by Ann Aguirre

The ending there left so many questions that I wanted to grab the next book right away, while The Forest of Hands and Feet stopped in such a way that I could almost leave it as a one off book.

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of these series.
