Philip K. Dick didn't edit his books. Do you think he should have?

I've read various people say PKD never edited his books. When he finished one he just moved on to the next, feeling he had so many ideas, life was short, and there wasn't time to waste. He took amphetamines in order to work longer hours. Did he do the right thing? Most authors would say the writing is the editing. I like the roughness, to me he's the literary equivalent of Neil Young. But I wonder what a second draft would have given us.

No, I think PKD's style would suffer from second-guessing. All he needed was some speed and a copy of the I Ching.
