message 1: by Robert (new)

Robert | 16 comments These are separate entries under both ISBN 10 and 13

0975254057
9780975254059

but they belong to the same book. How do I combine these? I didn't want to mess up my fist try.

Thanks in advance for any help

Rob

1) Combine the two. (You did this already.)

2) Delete the one with less info (in this case, the one with the ISBN-10).

3) Add the info to the other edition, so it now has all the data.

Carolyn (seeford) | 579 comments I would only offer that you should do what rivka suggests, but in the order of #1, then #3, then #2.

Can't in this case. It won't let you ad the ISBN-10 while the other record exists.

Carolyn (seeford) | 579 comments It will let you cut and paste into the field, just not save it. I usually do stuff like this with both pages open in separate tabs/windows. When all the info is transferred over, then I save each one with the changes, then go back and delete the redundant one, once I know the new one 'took'.
Just my paranoia at work, I guess. = )

True. I guess that's actually more like what I'd do, come to think of it. I was trying to break it down into distinct steps, but I don't actually do it that way! ;)
