A lot of folks have already read this month's book, so here are a few links to check out. One writer loves the book, other hates it. (I love it myself and am looking forward to the reread.

Cheryl | 1171 comments I think if you read this book mostly for the vampire action, you might be disappointed in how late in the story the vampires appear. But the name of the book is 'Salem's Lot, and thus the emphasis of the plot is on the town and its reaction to this supernatural invasion. That is actually what I liked about the book: emphasis on people first, and vampires second.

I totally agree with you. Sure killy vampires are great, but the real meat of the store is in the interactions between the characters. King does a great job of making us aware of all the secrets floating beneath the town.

Cheryl | 1171 comments I think creating interesting characters (that are good, bad, or evil) is really King's specialty in his books. I might not always love the plot in one of his books, but I usually find the characters interesting enough to continue reading.
