I've read ALL of her HR's. I'm familiar with all her CRs, but I think I only read one...or maybe two. I can't remember exactly, and the description for each books sound familiar. That's because I've read them each like a million times and considered reading them, but never did. By that time I was heavily into HRs.

Her books definitely evoke a lot of emotion, both bad and good.

Umm some people get riled up if there's even mention of a mistress. Me, I don't really care so long as there is no hanky panky. Sex with a mistress while with the h is a deal breaker for me!

I don't mind if there is mention of a mistress - I didn't have any trouble with Something Wonderful, but then again, I KNEW from someone that he did not sleep with the mistress like you are lead to believe. There is no way I could have finished the book without knowing because that is just an automatic deal breaker for me as well. I have no problem (with this genre) of people mentioning a previous mistress but not him actually going there and having relations with a mistress. That's why I am on hold with Once and Always because I don't know if he does visit this mistress once they are married. Her comment IS kind of vague in regards to that.

Yes, it is. And I've read reviews where people give impressions that are completely wrong. That's why my negative reviews tend to have more spoilers than my positive ones. I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression, so instead of summarizing what happens that ticked me off, I give exact quotes from the book. LOL So if there is a line that said "Jason stormed off to see his mistress" I'll put that in there but say, well they didn't actually say he slept with her, but you can tell because it says "XYZ." Impressions can be so wrong and misleading.

I wish I knew the answer to that question. I'm curious to hear what your friend has to say about it. I read this so long ago; back then I wasn't as sensitive to some issues as I am now. So a mistress might have pissed me off, but didn't leave an overall bad taste towards the story.

What I do remember that absolutely broke my heart is when her fiance does come for her. The one she left behind in America? He really did love her. He's a wonderful man. He never got her letters because of his scheming mama who doesn't like the h. As soon as he found out he came for Victoria. He even offered to repay her guardian for the costs incurred by him in taking care of Victoria. I cried when he realized that she was married to Jason. I'll never forget that scene. I have always hoped that JMN would write a Andrew's story and give him a wonderful lady love, but alas, she never has!

OMG! Seriously??!? That will break my heart! And you probably thought that Andrew was more deserving of her as well. I am SURE he stayed true too ... that is just awful! But the heart wants what it wants I guess. And I totally understand what you are saying about things being perceived a certain way by certain people. I have had that issue before and I totally try to be very descriptive with spoilers as well when I have thing stop say about negative aspects of a story. I don't like to lead people the wrong either, so I definitely explain myself and sometimes put quotes :)

Haha It's no biggie. Gosh there are soooooooo many other books out there. I don't think that any really qualifies as a "must read." Wow! I can't believe I forgot that detail. Ugh! But like I said we're talking years ago that I read this and obviously that stuff didn't bother me as much. I could tell you stories about books I've read that would make your toes curl. LOL

OMG, yes! I LOVED Andrew. It was heartbreaking Rachel. He finally arrives after she is married. I can't remember all the details, but basically the problem was with his mother. BUT, I do remember that he had written and her guardian, Jason's father/uncle kept it from her. That's why he did that ruse to trick her into marrying Jason. He wanted them together so badly! The reason is that he and Victoria's mother were in love when they were young, but they weren't allowed to marry. Her mother would have eloped with him, but he didn't want to do such a dishonorable thing. Her mother later ran off with the h's father. Now the guardian wants to get his son and her daughter together.

My heart broke I'm telling you. Andrew arrives, he's so happy to see his Tory. He tells the guardian that he will happily pay any expense incurred by Tory (how sweet is that?) When she tells him, she is heartbroken too because she knows how much he is hurt...by this time she's already in love with Jason. She is FURIOUS with her guardian for the deceit because Andrew was so hurt. Andrew even tells her to come with him anyway, that they can work on getting her out of the marriage. He was desperate to be with her, but like I said, she was already in love by that point.

I think if he'd' gotten there earlier she might have left, and if she knew he was coming before she married Jason, she never would have done it. Poor Andrew! Yes, he was much, much nicer than Jason. But Jason is a well drawn character. Hard, easily to dislike, but oh such an injured soul. JMN excels at character development; especially at redeeming her heroes. LOL

EB - I don't think I'll like Sugar Daddy - I don't do well with love triangles :) but I know you are a huge fan of hers!

RF - my friend just told me this too about Once and Always - the part with the mistress is earlier than that scene that the review was talking about. He visits his mistress before they are even married. Back when they were just engaged by the sick uncle or whoever that was. She said the scene that the review is referring too also happens. The heroine sees him and his mistress out together and it's never mentioned whether or not he was intimate with her. That alone would drive me insane not knowing! LOL

Good morning, ladies. Here are a few freebies for today. This first one, A WINTER WRONG is a variation of JA's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE.

http://smile.amazon.com/Winter-Wrong-...

http://smile.amazon.com/August-Prairi...

http://smile.amazon.com/Hope-Revealed...

AUGUST is a mail order bride novella. It's the first of six books. According to a comment in the blurb you will want to read these books in order to have the most fun...but each is a standalone. I've copied and pasted the series description below. It sounds like a fun series.

Duncan Cooke, aka The Duke of Stantham, had a problem. He had a huge estate in England to manage, one not far from London, and it came with all the headaches one would expect with an estate in disarray. Including six unwed cousins, women no man would touch for fear of losing a limb, or worse. Strange things happened to all who tried to court them, so they were left unwed.

But Duncan realized that his hometown of Clear Creek had exactly what he needed. Men! And so with the help of his brother’s wife Sadie, he concocted a plan to send his cousins to Clear Creek as mail order brides! He just hoped the calamity that often followed them, didn’t find its way across the sea as well …

Doesn't it sound hilarious?! Obviously the new Duke is an American. hahaha I'm assuming August is the first of the cousin's to get married. Sorry, turns out August is the name of the Hero. Penelope is the heroine.

HOPE REVEALED is the fourth book in the Prescott Pioneers series. We've had other books from this series on our freebie list in the past. As a matter of fact, I think, with this 4th book I now have the entire series. Yup, I do. Anyhow, the plot of this book is a young woman's abusive husband is missing believed dead. She goes to her brother in law's home in AZ to try to start over only to discover that her husband is there incognito. He threatens their children's lives and promises her a divorce, if she keeps quiet. I believe the H of this book is the brother in law. I believe he is the brother of the h's husband, but they do have different last names, so half-brother's perhaps? Anyhow, that's it. From a review I read, it sounds like these books are standalone, but reading them in order may be beneficial. Here's the link to a helpful review.

http://smile.amazon.com/review/RAOI6G...

That's it for today, ladies. Short list, but hopefully a sweet one. TTYL!

Yes, it's a good thing. I've accidentally paid for books I thought were free. Every once in a while I'll be in the freebie section and a book will pop up so you assume it's free, right? Well I'll go in, not pay attention to the price and hit the one click button, only to realize after the fact that it's NOT free. Then I gotta go to the return process. Sigh

I know those books were free though because I now take note of prices. They must have changed the prices after. All day long Amazon is putting prices up and down. So often I'll check my price watch list in the morning and a book will be one price, only to check later in the day and it's now another. What happened today seems weird though because it happened so quickly and to TWO of them.

I took them off the list because I didn't want someone to accidentally buy them. Good looking out! Thanks. Now the list is even more woefully short, though. Sigh. BTW you might have already purchase CUT FROM THE SAME CLOTH. It was on our freebie list before. It sounds like one of those crazy, fun reads. LOL

Hey ladies, sorry I've been MIA. As you know I have my CCD class on Tuesday nights and yesterday I had a lot of prep work to get done. I've gotta make sure to keep the little monsters occupied for the entire hour, otherwise they're an impossible bunch. Aside from that I'm fighting off a cold and in general feel like crap, especially in the afternoons/evenings, so yesterday's class was a challenge.

I havne't found a book to read as yet, unfortunately, but I really haven't had too much time to invest looking for one. I got super lucky this morning and was able to grab THREE books off my Kindle wishlist. They were all on sale for .99 cents, down from $3.99. They are books 2, 3 , and 4 in the same series. EB, you may remember I told you about the first book in that series that I read and loved, Breaking Up with Barrett. Awesome!! FYI ladies, BUWP is still a freebie on Amazon right now. It's a contemporary. Anyhow, I was super excited to save all that money! LOL

Kate, you LIKED The Highlander's Reward? I gave that book 2 stars! You liked a book and I didn't, now that's a first. The premise of the story was pretty good, but I had problems with the execution. There were too many issues with it for me to really enjoy it, and by the time it got closer to the end it started to seem more like a bad comedy than a true Highland romance. Ugh! I actually, to my shame, bought this book, but at least it was only .99cents.

TAMING OF THE SHREW sounds like a fun read, Kate. I was born and partially raised in England so I can totally appreciate the English humor. Some of my favorite comedies have been British shows. LOL Yes, Kate I did suggest a couple of HH to Rachel, but as you know my absolute favorite by her is Highland Conqueror. I actually bought my own copy of that book AFTER I read it; I loved it that much!

HIGHLANDER'S TOUCH, EB? I hope you enjoy it. After that near fiasco with HR by Knight I'm not too keen on trying another of her books any time soon.

Well ladies, I'm off to check the freebie section. Hopefully I'll find some interesting books...we'll see.

Here's the freebie list! EB, do you have this first one? It's a P&P spinoff based on Georgiana Darcy's diary.

http://smile.amazon.com/Georgiana-Dar...

http://smile.amazon.com/ROSES-MAIL-OR...

http://smile.amazon.com/Bounty-Christ...

http://smile.amazon.com/Passions-Tide...

ROSIE'S MAIL ORDER BRIDES... is about a mail order bride romance, obviously. However, I'm not sure who the h is, Rosie or her friend Esther. The plot sounds a little convoluted and neither the blurb or any of the reviews give much information.

A FOG IN CHARLESTON is a time travel romance. Present day heroine gets tossed back to 1861 on the eve of the Civil War. She just happens to be a Civil War historian--aren't we all--so works with a general to give him the benefit of her expertise in the war. Romance blossoms between the two.

BOUNTY is a christian historical romance, set in the American west. This is another book with a blurb that's convoluted yet doesn't really tell you anything. The h is from a respectable family and they want her to marry a "civilized" man from the east. LOL The H is on a mission to find his outlaw brothers after his mother makes a deathbed request that he bring something to them. Now he's tracking them down. Of course with outlaws, there are bounty hunters involved and another man intent on taking over the town where the h lives and once he lays eyes on the h, he adds her to his list. So, there's a lot of intrigue and excitement...at least so the reviews claim.

PASSION'S TIDE is about a h who is orphaned and in order to escape her uncle's nefarious plans takes off for England in order to try to find a husband. En route her ship is attacked and she is taken prison by the H, purportedly a pirate.

That's it for today, ladies. Not a very inspiring list I don't think, but hopefully you'll all find at least one book that whets your appetite. TTYL!

Kate we must be talking about two different books. The one I read was not that long. I've gotta go check. Gimme a minute...It's listed at 262 pages. Is this the book you're referring to?

http://www.amazon.com/Highlanders-Rew...

I agree that HR was a fairly good story. Truthfully when I purchased it I had read a negative review which highlighted a few issues I thought I could live with. Alas, not only did I incur those problems, but I also found a host of others. The way the H's fiancee and the h's fiance got together in the end was farcical. Oh and the way everybody just resolved everything all nice and friendly like, I expected them to break out in a chorus of Kumbaya. ROTFL I wonder if we're talking about the same book?
