Book: Aunt Bessie Enjoys
Qualification: Isle of Man #5
Pages: 234
Rating: 4 stars
Review: This story is by far the best in the series so far. The characters seemed more real, not two-dimensional. The solution to the crime was very good. It reminded me a bit of Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None. A solid 4 stars.

I Bet You
Qualification: Alternate I (both author & title fulfill requirement)
Rating: 3 stars
Review: I don't mind an "Insta-love" story but this one seemeda little WAY too quick on the "I love yous" and lifelong togetherness. Their relationship just didn't have a lot of development in the book to make that believable as quickly as the reader is expected to accept it. Otherwise, I thought the characters were pretty likable and the story was cute.

The Deception of the Emerald Ring
Qualification: Author W
Pages: 464
Rating: 4 stars
Review: This is such a fun series of books. I'm amazed how the author can write different styles of books based on the disposition of the main characters. This book was a bit silly and self-deprecating. I've read the next story and it has a more serious and snarky feel. And then there's the Christmas story. Pure fun. I highly recommend these books.

Blood Truth by J.R. Ward
Qualification: Author W
Pages: 432
Rating: 4 stars
Review: The Black Dagger Legacy is a spin-off of JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series and Blood Truth is book #4 in the new series that follows a group of vampire "recruits" being trained for combat by the Brothers. Blood Truth focuses on Boone who teams up with one of the Brothers, Butch, to catch a serial killer and meets his love interest, Helania, whose sister was one of the victims. After several recent installments of the Black Dagger Brotherhood and Black Dagger Legacy books that were sub-par and left me wondering if Ward was using a ghostwriter, this one thankfully reads much more like the earlier books. Readers are drawn into the serial killer plot, character development for Boone and Helania is strong, and we get more time with the Brothers! Lovers of Butch will find this one especially fulfilling.

Review: Jayne Ann Krentz is one of my favorite authors. At least the romantic suspense books that she wrote in the late 1990's and early 2000's. There is lots of tension, a bit of a mystery, some snarky comments, and danger. Good times.
