SOLVED. 80s book, gifted teenagers (including the narrator) realize they're aliens. [s]

I read this in the late 80s. There is a group of teenagers in a town, all born on the exact same day. They've all coupled off, and each couple is gifted in a certain way: there's an athletic couple, a musical couple, an academic couple, etc. The narrator is depressed because he's the only one without a partner. But then a new girl comes to town (who has the same birthday) and they instantly connect. Things get weird when some of the kids start having visions of reptilian aliens and begin vanishing. The narrator and his girlfriend realize all the kids are actually aliens and are beginning to revert to their true form.
