Hi, all, I'm looking for a book I read a few years ago--it's about a girl in the 30s (maybe 20s, but I'm thinking 30s)who is not a virgin and is carrying an STD (maybe gonorrhea?), I think she moves to the big city and one night meets a boy with a fast car, the son of a rich man. They sleep together, and somehow or another she's taken up by the morals police and put in a home for "unclean" girls. There are doctor's visits, she wants to escape but can't, and at one point, the father of her boyfriend comes to visit the home? This was historical fiction based on real occurrences in American history, and I also remember that she wanted a car like the boy's--she wanted to be a race car driver. Any ideas?
