Anyhow, should inequality be 'fought' or accepted as inevitable in the economic sense under a capitalist system? Or should the gap be narrowed? As a slogan, it's super attractive though, allows to do anything in its name ;)
What do you think?

Holly (goldikova) | 12 comments "Equality" seems like a great concept, as long as you don't ponder it.........but.......when everyone is homeless, destitute, sick and starving then we will all be truly equal.

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Very nice color!
Why so pessimistic? G7 will make sure everyone drives Ferrari

Ian Miller | 1857 comments Equality does drive everyone to the lowest common denominator, but I am of the opinion that everyone should have a fair start in life, and just maybe an equal one, and the taxation should increase on the wealthy to pay for that. But it will not be long before inequality creeps in. The ky is to lt those who achieve through their own efforts get rewarded, but make sure they are not stepping on others, and they are not simply salting away unreasonable amounts in tax havens, etc.

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Being equally poor is probably not a problem. How about being equally rich?

message 7: by Ian (new)

Ian Miller | 1857 comments I think equally rich is impossible unless ownership is removed. Karl Marx was quite correct on how capital accumulates. It is quite easy to prove it mathematically, although the proof is rather long-winded and tiresome. And if ownership is removed, with one exception, there is no incentive to work so nothing gets done and everyone is equally poor. (The one exception that I can think of was in one of my novels - all useful work is done by machines.AI.)
