message 4: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 995 comments Thank you so much Factory Fore(wo)men!!!

*cracks knuckles* Okay, let's get to it.

1. What are your 5 favorite books?
This question never fails to stump me, but I'll go with Outlander, Shadow and Bone, Leviathan, The Lord of the Rings, and Watchers. (Can you tell I like great world-building?)

2. What is your favorite genre?
I love them all, but go through phases where I spend months reading mostly one genre. Right now I'm in a big romance phase. It's pretty much all I'm reading these days.

3. Where do you live?
Chicago for the past 10 years, but I grew up in Nebraska.

4. What's your favorite color?
Purple! One day I left the house with a purple phone, shoes, bag, shirt, and planner. I have a problem.

5. Name 2 books that you didn't like.
Sizzling Sixteen and The Purrfect Murder are perfect examples of good series that have started to seriously overstay their welcome. Yet somehow I keep reading them!

6. What is/was your profession?
I'm a grant writer for a large civil rights non-profit.

7. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Anywhere in France - Nice, Paris, Rennes, a small farm in the middle of nowhere...

8. What's your favorite ice cream flavor?
Mint cookies and cream. Or rainbow sherbet.

9. If you could have lunch with an author, who would you choose?
J.K. Rowling. I would love to pick her brain, and she seems like such an interesting person.

10. What are your hobbies besides reading?
I do triathlons in the summer, curling in the winter, and am also teaching myself to code and build websites and apps.

11. What's your favorite thing about/at TCF?
Is it a cop out to say the challenges? I love the Monopoly game and the Super Series team challenge!

12. Who's your top 3 authors?
William Shakespeare, James Rollins, and Jane Austen. All three of them can get me to pick up any of their books and know I'll enjoy it.

13. Do you have any pets, and if so what are they and what are their names?
I have a 9 year old Boston Terrier named Carey (short for Tenderheart Care Bear).
Carey in the car

14. What's your favorite thing to eat?
Mexican food. I could eat it all day, every day.

15. What method of reading do you prefer i.e. Kindle, paperback, audio, etc?
Kindle. I do so much of my reading on the train to work or in bed while my husband is asleep, so the Kindle is crucial!

16. What are you currently reading?
I just started Of Metal and Wishes, which my YA book club is discussing this weekend.

17. What book did you just finish?
Just in the nick of time for a challenge, I read Of Gods and Monsters: Menoetius yesterday.

18. Name a book, author, or series that you loved and wouldn't of know about if it weren't for Goodreads.
The Cut & Run series. And really, M/M romance in general. I had no idea it existed until this year!

19. If you could be any character from a book who would it be and what book is he/she from?
I just got back from my first visit to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando and am still riding the high, so I'll say Hermione Granger! If you haven't been yet, I highly recommend making the trip. It made me fall in love with the books all over again! I want to live in that world forever.

20. Where's your favorite place to go on vacation to?
France. I love everything about it - the culture, the food, the architecture. It's my favorite place in the world.

Bonus:
Tell us 3 things about yourself.

--I used to be a synchronized swimmer.
--My hair cut and color is rarely the same for longer than a year.
--I have my bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts.

We didn't do both sides this year - we did the new one. I have a picture of my hubby and son waiting in line/saving spot for me and my daughter for the 'roller coaster' ride. Looooonnnnngggg wait - and we went in early August ......hot hot hot. Still loved it :)
We did the other side a couple of years ago - again I think it may have been the first year but it was more spring time so not 'as' crowded

i already have book 2. you know my tastes, so that was a safe bet. Thank you.
So what are you reading for SH in Nov?

message 24: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 995 comments I'm trying to bust through a bunch of freebies I picked up for SH this month. I'm not in the mood to spend money on that challenge right now. So I'll be reading Keeping Promise Rock, Mr. Jaguar, Mark of the Gladiator, Geeking Out on 11C, Ty Hard, Nor Iron Bars a Cage, and Like Coffee and Doughnuts. I couldn't find a freebie for the writer cat, so I'm going to read A Dangerous Thing by Josh Lanyon and see if I can find a loan. Then whatever bingo and choice book that sound good.

How about you? Anything good?

I don't like Josh Lanyon books, he and Mary Calmes are like "umm, no thanks!" for me.

I want to finish series that i started on SH, so once SH finishes, the series i enjoyed we will get sequels

I always see his name pop up on the restrictions for the comfort zone challenge! Not enough romance? I like them for the mystery aspects but there's not always a lot of love in his books. He's pretty hit or miss, but I liked the first Adrian English book so I figured I'd try the sequel.

I like your sequel strategy. I already know I want to read more Shira Anthony. Loved the mermen book and Blue Notes, which I just finished.

I loved Geeking out on 11C and Mr Jaguar they were fun - I read them in Sept for bonus books. I loved Promise Rock series but they are long books.
I'm in w/Ezi - I don't like Josh Lanyon - granted I only read one but didn't like the mystery MC did stupid stuff and little to no romance. I have a few Mary Calmes I've bought - so hopefully will like.

i have blue notes, but I never read it. I picked it up on a freebie at amazon.

Josh Lanyon doesn't have much romance. It tends to be Mystery/thrillers and I am a romance gal. So he doesn't appeal to me.

Yep, I got 59 points. I read it for the beer category. And the author is an opera singer, so you can tell she really knows music. I want to read the other ones.
